Well I didn't get excited about the Kore 2 Player or the Kontakt Player. But Reaktor player :D

I've always wanted Reaktor, but I could never justify paying so much for it as I doubt I would use all its features. So a free cut down version sounds prefect :D

Hey Everyone

I really think it would be a great thing if we had some kind of tutorial that covered how to get that kind of glitchy electro sound that wolfgang gartner and the likes of deadmau5 use in many of their tracks.

I know we have other electro house tutorials but they do tend to just cover the more funkier side of electro house, I would really like to see something a bit more dirty.

I have been an avid listener of Dutch House for the past 3-4 years, probably before the majority of people in the UK knew about it as well but it would be fantastic if SA could do what they have done with the FULL Tech House Tutorial but instead on Dutch House Music.

I know someone made a similar topic but that was how to sound like "afrojack", my request is a lot further spread.

Funky bass

I been trying to nail this bass sound for a while now and I can't get it right at all! So hoping someone here might be able to help with this one.

When the bass first kicks in to me it sounds like its a synth. I've had some success in tryin to get that part right. But after 2 mins the bass picks up. And its this that I can't get at all! I've tried layering electric bass samples over synth subs, sounds awful! And I've spent longer then I'd admit to playing round with synths and searching forums to try and recreate it, no luck!

Doesn't anyone know if this is an old disco loop? I've listened to it so many times now I have no idea :crazy:

Any help here would be great!!

Hi, i'm new here and new to the whole music production in general, been on Sonic academy for a month now i think, but not used the forums yet, seems like good place tho, like minded people willing to help, so was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions on how to get that dubstep bass sound nero uses alot, it kinda has the typical LFO wobble sound, but not such a clean obvious wobble bass, a fuzzy kinda sound to it. any help would be great :)

question about percussion ensembles

how can I make my percussion rhythms played by many people at the same time like in the samba ensembles or like in other african percussion ensembles ? ([i]preferably in ableton[/i])

dublicating the rhythm pattern (for example 20 times) then attaching different [b]grooves[/b] to them and panning - tune/frequency shifting is an option maybe but seems not much satisfying.

There is a sonic concept in that maybe , or maybe the environmental soundscape gives its [b]timbre[/b] .. which I don't know.

anyone has an idea about it ?

I'd have a fair stab and say the bassline is a Jupiter 8V stacked on a Mini Moog, and there's an effected ambulance/police/fire service siren in there too, but I love the little flourishes in the track, sort of squiggly little sounds, almost Vocoderish.

Im stuck trying to replicate the bass sound of Pleasurekraft - Tarantula. It sounds like it is portamented but after i tried it i found out that it is not and has some kind of trick to it. Maybe layering. Also i cant get the waveform mixtures right. So i ask help.

Hey hey,

Hoping this will be a simple one. This track is so very simple, its a rolling bassline that starts totally filtered, with the filter eventually opening up. I figured that much. But how to you 'write' in this bassline? It's very hard to hear, with no definitive notes... So I'm not sure are they 1/16th notes written in, or like two or three long notes per bar? I'm bewildered... :P

Also, how do you write hi-hats like that?? They sound too real to be true...

I'm not sure if anyone else works in the same way that I do, first off.

I generally start a tune by making an eight bar loop, I do say ten tracks of drums, a sub bass a mid bass, some stabs, pads, keys and chords, maybe even some vocals. I make myself a nice solid rolling loop that I'm into.

It's at this point I struggle to make my songs come alive, I can build a decent break and drop, but I just can't seem to develop that eight bar loop so that it stays interesting the whole course of the song.

Maybe a set of videos on methods the guys at SA use to 'get creative' might be a nice little addition to the video archive. Anyone agree?
