Ahh, this may sound pretty lame, but I'm trying to recreate the trance kick the last Above & Beyond, and AnjunaBeats Vol 6/8 CDs are using. It's the perfect kick for me. I've been tweaking the Kickass Kick device from the tutorial, but not having any luck. Any pointers?

Dont know if anyone is interested but i know a lot of dance producers swear by guru for their beats. Well the next edition of Computer music out soon has a free version of it - not sure what the difference is between this and the full version - guess we will have to wait and see.

If its possible it would make mixing down and fitting sounds together a hell of a lot easier.

Hello,

I've made a Template for Logic 9 for Guru. Hopefully it'll take the donkey work out of it for y'all that have it :D

All 8 Engines have their own Midi Channel for you to Drag & Drop the Patterns onto.

All 8 Engines have their own Outs which also have a corresponding channel in the Mixer & arrange.

Theres a read me & screenshots in it with a load of boring stuff that I wont go into.

just finished a new track... almost, and it sound like all the mid has been taken out... if I turn in mid up on my external mixer its all good but not in ableton alone. how can I fix this? EQ on master maybe? an ideas please

So now I'm all hooked up with my audio kontrol 1 with ableton, it works fine on ASIO mode on my new projects. But if i open anything I made before I started uising the audio kontrol if crashes unless I change the driver type to MME/DX. I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers etc and still the same issues.....

To confirm when I change to MME/DX I can still output via the audio kontrol on old projects just not in ASIO driver mode. ASIO mode works fine however on nre projects.... can anyone help?

Concern is Freq Response: 53Hz - 20kHz (+/- 2 db) - not to good on the low end right? bass drums around around 40 - 80 hz at the low end right?

I made a new tune this week and a couple of my friends who I'd played it too were loving it, I personally wasn't too sure but anyways I mixed it down and burnt it to CD. Thought i'd drop it on the Function one sound system at Digital last night for my 2am slot just to see how it goes and also get a feel of it on a big system.

Anyways I played a few big tunes including 'Swedish House Mafia - One' which got a massive response... however...

I'm really really blown away by this, but the crowd literally all cheered when i put my track on!!?!!! Was like i'd dropped a well known track or something by the reaction i got. There was hands in the air and chants and i'm seriously seriously so blown away right now even thinking about it! My jaw dropped at the time and my friends who were with me behind the booth were like "f*cking hell Rob look!!"
MY TUNE!!! F*ck. That's just so amazing!!!!! Best feeling in the world!!!!

I still don't even think the tune is that great, i mean, i like it, but i don't feel it's my best... just so shocked. Surprising what people like sometimes.

Just wanted to share this with you, i'm so unbelievably chuffed!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Where do you start when making a track?

I often struggle with ideas or knowing where to start with my original tracks so I was wondering where you guys start off with your tracks?

I have made quite a few tracks using samples from other tunes which have been ok but I'd like to make something original...

Do you plan it out or just let things evolve? Do you make the main tune with all parts playing first and then work backwards from there? I'd love to hear your different methods of getting something going from scratch.

I'm wondering, if my audio kontrol one is linked to my pc, and the auido knotrol one out put to my DJM 400 and my DJM 400 to my monitors speakers would to effect the sound from the speakers? ie enhance levels of bass etc, of course leaving all the controls on the dmj 400 at default (default db levels on the mixer).

I hope that makes sense or should I just cut out the mixer completely?

trying to save having to change cables about everytime I switch between DJing and producing...

Hey guys I was just wondering what you guys do when you finish a track to get some feedback. My friends on say my msn list aren't really into EDM so I don't really like sending them stuff cos the usuall response is sounds good... Also sending it to big name DjS is ok but their very busy and can take ages getting back to you I even recall a big name Dj supporting my track and not even letting me know he liked it etc. So was just wondering if you guys know of any good places to get your stuff listened to by people with som knowledge on good dance music. Also what's the best way to get samples of your tracks online, I always just used myspace. All help appreciated :)
