I’m trying to generate a simple sound that drops gradually in pitch (ie frequency) by say an octave over 5 seconds.
Can anyone help me with how to create this? I thought I might be able to do this by adjusting the automation on the pitch bend wheel, but this doesn’t seem (to me) to be a ‘writeable’ control.
I hope that’s enough detail:-) Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Pitch bend is considered a midi control. If you are in ableton you need to select the midi Ctrl in envelopes section and select pitch bend.

But are there any controls on the synthesiser itself that I could use to produce a dropping frequency?
No unfortunately the controls on ANA don’t send midi data. Either use a midi controller or draw it directly in the daw.
