ANA 2 Sound Design

View Course

Still buzzing from the recent release of our new synth, Sonic Academy’s creative director Phil Johnston’s back again this week for an in-depth look at Sound Design in ANA 2.

Spanning a variety of different genres, we check out some cool bass sounds, epic pads along with classic leads and more.
Over these ten videos, Phil shows us from the simple to the more complex just how diverse ANA 2 is at creating the sounds you want for your tracks.

The perfect balance between vintage and cutting edge!

Hypersaws are great! This will be used a lot !

So did you forget to change the year on the end credits, or was this ready a year ago?

This makes me want to seriously get into sound design! Great synth!

Just installed Ana2 and browsed the presets - this a completely new synth rather than an update - Kick2 and Ana2 have grown up and become really mighty weapons - Thanks Phil,Chris,Bryan and all Sonicacademics who worked on that! Cherry on the the cake: you got Aiyn Zahev, the man who usually unleashes the maximum power of a synth…Absolutely amazing (once more) …

Thanks for the kind words… really happy you like ANA 2. When you make these things you kind of think to yourself “this is really awesome” but it’s only when we have you guys saying it that it makes it real and all the hard work worthwhile.

Thanks!

You guys out did yourselves with ANA 2. I’ve only had enough time to watch the tuts on it and play around with the presets but I’m already cackling like a madman. It sounds amazing.
I’ve been weeding out synths and effects that I don’t need in an effort to simplify and do more with less. ANA 2 and Kick 2 aren’t going anywhere!
Now about that controller…

Great Ana sound design course - Love the versatility of the new version and the in-depth sound, chord and arp tweaking which can be applied for each sound!

Thanks for the great upgrade and also for a whole bunch of videos available right away! Haven’t got my hands on my copy of ANA2 yet, though I’ve been waiting for it since the very first hints on the forum and teaser videos, so very looking forward to this sweet moment. I’m just sure that’s an instrument for years to work and discover, as well as ANA1 was.

Just one thought that crossed my mind: are there any plans to make some kind of extended sound design tutorial with ANA2 with Chris and Phil, like there was for ANA1 when it was released? I really like the process, how the ideas come up and being developed in the dialog of Chris and Phil, it’s very live and interesting. Like this kind of videos very much.

I have tons of soft-synths already and thought that I wouldn’t ever really need to get another one. But ANA 2 is engineered so well that I felt like I had no choice but to jump on the bandwagon. The factory presets sound so great, and are the types of sounds I have been wanting to make for my music. The chord feature is a total game-changer for me. I more or less get the gist of music theory, but to have it all integrated into the synth and being able to very easily make my own custom chord progression and arp presets is a killer app IMO. Pretty sure that this is going to take over as my go-to synth.

Awesome! Really glad you like it!
