I had the mac mini but didn’t like it at all. Too much work, you need to buy a screen, keyboard, mouse.

Sold it and got a laptop. Better choice IMO.

I would agree on paying extra for a mac however. Very reliable systems.
lol I’ve got MBP and still use a monitor, mouse and keyboard :stuck_out_tongue:

So I guess it depends what you like or need really.

but I’m too all for Macs
That’s a different matter though mate. I’d happily take a macpro but give me a mac mini and I’ll throw it out the window then proceed to spit on it’s remainder.

Why anyone would need a mac mini is beyond me, sorry. Get the macbook pro, or the iMac. Sweet.
I think a small matter of being 3 times cheaper, what’s wrong with the mini?

I’m waiting for the back lash lol
Well i told him i could build him a pc with a better spec at 2/3s of the price - but he said but i like macs sighs
IMHO, I would pay that extra third for a mac. To me, its a no brainer.
why?my last/most recent pc build is essentially a 6 core mac pro that runs win or OS X at a fraction of the price(understatement).
OSX. Plus, you built yours. If you got that stock, it would cost you alot more. But I HATE Microsoft products. They need to rebuild their code.

Thats ignorance. A Mac Mini would serve the purpose of many producers out there. Im sure that many people cant afford a Mac Pro either, so why knock it? The specs on a Mac Mini meets or exceeds that of just about every DAW or VST.

Thats exactly my arguement too

serious its pointless, doing it yourself you end up with a better mac at a fraction of the cost plus you have warranties on everything you used in the build that at the very minimum are at least three times that of a macpro

Well, if you are one of the few that can get Snow Leopard to run on a machine you built, then congratulations. Not many can. I however, am more music and hardware savvy then am computer savvy. I cant build a computer (never really tried), nor do I really care. I do know that OSX is very stable and with the playing of Windows 7, it is complete garbage. No matter how you polish a turd, its still a piece of crap, right?

This wasn’t meant to be a PC vs Mac debate, so I’m sorry. However, don’t discount a Mac Mini. They have gotten very powerful of late. Considering that there are well known producers that are running their DAW’s on 5 or 7 year old Macs or PowerPC (pre-Intel) Macs, the Mini is way more powerful. So… Its all about what you can afford. Sorry dude.

FYI, I’m running a 3.06 gHz Macbook Pro, fully decked. But I have produced on a MacBook that was weaker then the new Mac Minis.

I always thought that OSX wouldn’t work on anything but Mac configured hardware. Well…without hacking into the OS to make it work at least.
