This was a fantastic course, give us more and more:)
Awesome course! A very understood and informative course with a tutor who clearly explains the content covered and the reasons behind certain aspects. Thank you very much James please keep making courses!
So I got a question, why dont you sidechain your loops here?
Amazing course, this is my third course in the trance genre and i wish i came across this one first. Thankyou so much!
Absolutely brilliant, cheers James!
Helpful course James cheers.
I love all of Jame’s productions, I bought this course!!!
Why Send the the buss to the effect and not just put the effect (delay) on the buss ? Good stuff =)
Mostly workflow and more control preferences, in many cases it’s preferable to have your effects ( especially for reverb & delays but not only ) on a Return channel instead of the instrument or Bus channel itself.
Keeping your effect on the Channel or Bus means you have only the Dry/Wet knob to adjust the amount of effect apply to your audio and some plugins won’t even have a Dry/Wet knob available.
Setting your effect on a Return channel means that you have control of your sends amount, so how much audio signal you’re sending into the effect which is handy when you do not have the Dry/Wet knob on the effect but not only, it gives you more control on the audio as well. Most plugins and especially plugins emulating vintage gears won’t react the same depending on the input signal they receive.
So yep, setting up things this way is much more flexible.
Usually, you will stick an effect directly on the instrument or bus for sound design purpose and crafting the sound to your liking but then use Return channels for global reverb, delays, parallel compression…etc.
You can also see it as typical analog workflow with real console and effects hardware but without the patching and cabling hassle thanks to the flexibility of digital workflow and DAWs.
Yes that makes sense Im new to this stuff so i just need to ask when there something on my mind But WoW, thanks for the answer
No worries
Don’t hesitate to ask questions when you’re watching tutorials, we’ll try to help if we can
Another thing thats been bothering me is this Page. I dont know, but i think its not optimized for mobile. The video is always stopping and buffering after a couple of minutes. And then it just stands there and the video wont come back. That is with WiFi and mobile net. Maybie something to look into
Always difficult to tell if it’s the source or the homework WiFi or mobile device app & settings in this case, best is to check the difference between watching on a computer directly connected to your box with an Ethernet cable, then switch to Wifi, then switch to the mobile device to compare. You can maybe post about this in the Technical Support category, let’s keep this thread for James Dymond tutorial comments & questions
Yes Thank you
just the tutorial i was after!
Looking forward to getting stuck into this
Just getting started with Sonic Academy after reading some recommendations online, and this is my first course. I’m loving it so far; it feels fairly comprehensive and in-depth without getting too bogged down in details. Looking forward to James Dymond’s other trance courses after I finish this one.
You know what if you guys have created this course so that we purchase sonic plugins then you guys are cheating to be honest not everyone can take sonic plugins all the time - I don’t recommend this course at all
Welcome aboard on the forums !
You can use what ever plugins, DAW and tools you have and love to follow along courses and get the most from tutorials.
What’s important is the knowledge and techniques shared by experienced producers and getting to learn how a track was produced from scratch, tools are just tools in the end.
Seriously, this course is a 5h20 Gold Mine from James Dymond IMHO.
Really recommend watching this course about learning ( link below )
