These are great lessons. I got a lot out of them by taking them all in the first time through, absorbing the big picture and working a bit on recreating the work on my own computer. Then I did a second time through, following more closely, rewinding to catch every point, and doing a piece-by-piece reconstruction of the track along with P-LASK. It has really nailed down the process and many of the shortcuts. ALL HAIL P-LASK!
Thanks for sharing your feedback, this way to absorb the big picture through a 1st watch of a course and then going more into details doing the course again is super effective indeed ![]()
Very good training course,
very well explained and illustrated,
highly recommended.

Happy to hear you enjoyed this course !

This looks great, just what I need !
Great tutorials! It was surprising to learn that session view is only just starting to catch on. As a complete amateur who has been messing about with Ableton for a few years, this was the major attraction for me. I know you can edit midi in the arrangement view, but that is just so messy in comparison, and does not offer the same ability to iterate!
I’m a long time, logic pro user and keen to learn able to live and found this course really helpful so far.
Really enjoyed this. Great teacher who deomonstrated a load of stuff in a short amount of time. Very happy to have spent the time on this. Thanks
Is there a course where you teach the relation between rhythm and kick for all the layers for pop music or trap?
Also why you are using a layer for kick, snare clap and not use a drum kit ? what is the best practice?
I have so many questions left, i will watch next one.
Hey there @fiulian
Not sure if it’s what you’re after but you’ll find 2 core courses about Rhythm at the links below :
A Beginner’s Guide To Music Theory - Rhythm Part 1
Music Theory Rhythm in Dance Music Intermediate Course
When it comes to programming and enhancing drums inside Ableton Live, I highly recommend checking this other course as well :
How To Make Better Drums with Enamour
It’s more about workflow and processing drums than anything else, using individual tracks for each drums element provides more control for each drums element on separated tracks, you can then route all your drums tracks into a Drum Buss for global processing.
You could do the same using a Drum Kit and assign effects for each sound inside drum pads, but it’s embedded into chains and you need to delve more into menus and devices chains.
Hope that helps ![]()
