Typo?

LOL - Should have said Finance - Will never make that mistake again. Brilliant!

No difference between PC & Mac. I’ve got both.

What it all comes down to is build quality. You get what you pay for. Whether you buy it in a shop or build it yourself… if you buy the best, you get the best. Thats not some Mac Vs.Pc  BS - thats life. Better to get some cool local crafted bespoke stuff than some made in china with 100+ times recycled metal rubbish.

PC’s are plentiful because they are cheaper than Mac’s and that suits pockets.

**** knows I’ve had enough of them to be able to say that. Cheap PC’s are not especially suited to making music. Thats what all the fuss is about.

Its all about spec & the quality of the components. Mac have a good rep because they tick those boxes. If you build a monster PC yourself, you can achieve the same thing with the added benefit of doing it for a lesser price… Neither is superior to on another… but both are superior to cheaper alternatives.

Also throw into the Mix what DAW you’d like to use & then roll the dice!

Not sure if ye all know this but Windows 7 is SOOO like Mac OSX. Unreal similar. I really like W7. So much better than Vista… just seems quicker & smoother.

And it aint for the 1st time that Microsoft have borrowed inspiration from Apple. Windows was actually based on Apple OS.

Microsoft had worked with Apple Computer to develop several Desk Accessories and other minor pieces of software that were included with early Macintosh system software[citation needed]. As part of the related business negotiations, Microsoft had licensed certain aspects of the Macintosh user interface from Apple; in later litigation, a district court summarized these aspects as “screen displays”. In the development of Windows 1.0, Microsoft intentionally limited its borrowing of certain GUI elements from the Macintosh user interface, in order to comply with its license.

For example, windows were only displayed “tiled” on the screen; that is, they could not overlap or overlie one another. There was no trash can icon with which to delete files, since Apple claimed ownership of the rights to that paradigm.

I kinda agree here, I built my own PC and alway do so I know its kick arse, however I still dont like macs, mainly because of the OS. I know windows inside out, like the back of my hand where as a mac is like another language which I done ever want to learn!
roben (06/09/2010)

gofunk (06/09/2010)
Hey roben, who done ur web page? I like
Me

And with absolutely NO website experience! haha.

Thanks by the way, pretty pleased with it myself!
Nice job! How did you manage that! I dont mine with no web experience and it look ****e compared to that!

What did you use, software etc? Did you use wordpress or something else? Do tell, I’m thinking about rebuilding mine so some tips would be nice

Not long till Ibiza mate!

It’s entirely in Flash, so I’m calling Moonfruit or similar.

just checked that out but looks like you need to use their hosting etc… anyone know of anyway to build webpage using flash hosted on my existing server? Any sites that offer this?

I used an XML template which I bought from some website (forgot which now dude, but try google searching xml website templates or something).

Then i uploaded the template to my hosting server, then from there I just used dreamweaver - although you can use notepad - to make the changes I needed. If you have an idea about HTML then you’ll have no problem with XML, they’re really similar.

By the way in regards to Mac,

people are always going on about how they never crash blah de blah de blah. But Juan Kidd aka Jason Herd (from herd & fitz) recently was doing a gig and he said that his macbook crashed.

This is why i have an issue with using a laptop / macbook for DJing.

At least if a CDJ breaks there is always at VERY LEAST one other CDJ to keep music going until the club tech gets another CDJ out, although most clubs do have 3-6 CDJs all lined up so chances are all of those break, slim to non. & in my years of club & bar experience i’ve had a small handful of CDJs break / freeze / stutter / etc during set.

there has to be something said for most large scale artists using Macs for DJing and music production right? Every computer has its flaws. I have used both Windoze 7 and OSX. I will not touch a windows machine if I can help it. There are alot of people that are switching to Mac because like many, they are sick and tired of the issues that a PC brings. Compatibility issues, crashing, viruses, etc. If you want to use a PC, more power to you. But the people making music use come hard core programs that take a TON of processing power. My current project is 41 total tracks, not including busses and returns. Of those, there are about 15 or so MIDI tracks running. Needing that power is not easy, so you are bound to run into problems. But the plain truth is that until Microsoft rewrites their code from the ground up, they will continue covering up their crap with more crap.

In the end, use what you love. I love Apple’s design. Show me a sexier laptop (and dont pull out the alienware shiz). They have the best customer service period. Thats a fact. They rewrote their code for OSX and their OS is easier to use, easier to navigate, and nicer to look at.

Did you happen to ask what he was running when it crashed? I guarantee the genius didnt restart before a gig. You HAVE to do that. It frees up the ram when you start up your program.

I would think if it was a gig his mac would have been freashly booted

I dunno dude. It is Roben’s friend after all. Makes you wonder:satisfied:

Howie you’re not suggesting Mac’s are somehow immune to problems are you…

I had an MBP for work, and that used to freeze just running Firefox. Anyone could say, ah its because of this that or the other. Fact is, it froze, just like a PC might, full stop.

I worked as a Unix sys-admin for years. Those servers went wrong all the time, all varieties of U/L*nix too. And seeing as that is what Mac OS is based on…

All our dedicated super ‘custom built’ servers came with expensive support contracts. Go figure.

Alas we’re not friends, but wish we were, would love to do a colab with him!

Not at all dude. I never said they were perfect. However, I want to make music, I dont want to look for drivers and figure out issues. With a Mac, it just works and they are more intuitive. Its better for me and it seems to be more of the standard in music production.

Yeah, I am actually probably just about to buy one myself, but they aren’t without the odd fault.

I will save it and start my own mac V pc thread in good time though :stuck_out_tongue:

If only because I have a slight different angle to put on it. Sorta

no mac v pc thread please… I have heard enough mac biggots biggin up mac’s for one life time. Mac users are SOO touchy… wouldnt wanna to offend one because they just cant seem to get the fact that PC’s are better. Most people that have mac’s that I know also have a PC because mac’s just cant cut it. they are narrow minded like their users, lack versatility and riddled incompatibility issues with most software… not to mention most normal human beings. Over rated, over priced, trated up computers with a ****e OS… CHUCK YOUR MAC OUT THE WINDOW, ITS CRAP!

Haha! Kidding! (kinda)

South Park Mac vs PC

BIG UP MAC CLAN ON SONIC!
