As it’s come up, what do you all reckon is a minimum number of followers needed for a label to take notice of you?
I would hope they wouldn’t care! But just in case it is 552 and you were one short, I followed you
Thanks Ant! All of 'em followed through non-spamming means too. Though some of them are spammers themselves.
It’s a serious question, though I think it’s one with no right answer as I’ve seen people with a bunch of signed tracks with few followers and others with 100s or 1000s of followers and no real depth of signed material.
Great tip Japwow about the groups, never thought about that! Just gone and joined a load

Stream dub king music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud
Check out this guy ^^
Every few days he’ll delete all 2000 people he’s following then add 2000 different people knowing that maybe 2 or 3 hundred will follow him back. He’s got nearly 5000 followers from doing that.
I’m actually quite impressed with his dedication to doing it haha.
I can’t decide if that is genius or not?
haha.
Makes me laugh when I see him doing it. Must have the patience of a saint to just sit there for hours deleting then adding people. Either that or he has no life haha
Depends on the label with followers. We only have 280 ish and are signed onto one of our fave labels. And when we were signed we had no followers.
Groups are defiantly useful. Don’t forget to take them out of groups and put them back in sometimes it moves your track to the top for those that miss it
Well Nina, your tip about giving something away for free is cetainly doing the trick for me - old followers have returned, DJs saythey will play the track in sets and 200 hits in 2 days which was the amount I usually get in a month if lucky - plus I have noticed a few labels which are on my list following me now
So I am gratefully grateful
havin decent tracks in the first place is the main thing obviously
another main way to get plays / comments on soundcloud is by listening to everyone elses tracks and commenting
some people have comments on EVERYTHING and of course get 5 million plays themselves
but i cant quite bring myself to put “yeah cool track bro” on every f**ing track just for the sake of it
find people you like on soundcloud and they will often have their facebook page linked on there too. once you are linked up on both sites then you can build a relationship
theres a few people i know well that way now
been offered remixes etc as a result
the downside of soundlcoud is having labels hear your stuff streamed on there and expressing an interest but then when you send them the actual track they say no thanks!
but dont be a sheep - liitle quirky things stand out
Nina used to always put “we are japwow” in the signature - that stuck out and made me remember the name long before i remembered other names on here
she has good tunes tho which helps!
Thanx chekka
yeh it does help to have something that sticks in peoples heads.
A good bio is useful if people read it. Something other than the “djing for so long, producing for so long”
If you read the project one no one knows anything about me … So they ask more questions and listen more
Mystery is a great seller
Wanted to mention groups, but that’s already there.
Producing good tracks might help as well
Besides that, joining some remix competitions could help too. You often upload them to a dropbox and in that way the track is getting reviewed by others that have uploaded as well. In other words, you have it in an active group.
When uploading a track, make sure you have your facebook and other social networks that are supported by soundcloud connected and that a cross post of it spreads around.
It all boils down to the principle: you give some, you get some

How do you share a track on Soundcloud with all the people you are following?
Hey guys…
Been a while since Iv posted here but just had to say this is hands down one of the best topics Iv read on a forum in a long time…
Thanks for all the good advice…
Lets hope it all works haha.
jjdejong0 (18/07/2012)
How do you share a track on Soundcloud with all the people you are following?
br
Quite easy, make the track ‘private’ and then select the ‘share’ button so that you can share it with specific people. There’s two tabs, one for people following you (your followers), and one for people you are following. Add everyone from both tabs and enter a personal message down in the box below. Once you click send, it’ll send them all the track to their dashboard and the majority of them an email notification too (as that’s enabled as default).br

I’ve actually just written a huge guide on how to market your music on soundcloud. You can find it at http://www.soundcloudguide.com. It’s pretty much everything I know about the platform and how to organically increase followers, plays and comments.br

Hope that helps!
