Sorry Guys… Not listening to recent posts - trying to listen to the 8.

Have to post this one again: Absolutely incredible tune.

How do you say… Please - HTF do you make all of this?

Par Grindvik - I’m a lot like you.

<EMBED style=“WIDTH: 366px; HEIGHT: 307px” height=307 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=366 src=- YouTube allowfullscreen=“true” allowscriptaccess=“always”>

Really great tunes from the 8.

Cari Lekebusch - Macabre

<EMBED style=“WIDTH: 272px; HEIGHT: 178px” height=178 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=272 src=- YouTube allowfullscreen=“true” allowscriptaccess=“always”>

Adam Beyer - Antistius - Was rocking the car too…

<EMBED style=“WIDTH: 277px; HEIGHT: 206px” height=206 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=277 src=- YouTube allowscriptaccess=“always” allowfullscreen=“true”>

As was Egbert - Vette Sounds

<EMBED style=“WIDTH: 301px; HEIGHT: 215px” height=215 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=301 src=Egbert - Vette Sounds - YouTube allowfullscreen=“true” allowscriptaccess=“always”>

Difficult to put my finger on specifics apart from just how awesome in general they all sound.

Listening to them all now & taking notes of bits. Its mainly the big reverb / different reverbs at work @ the same time & all being clear, clean & audible that is amazing me.

the last eight are all GREAT tracks, and slender has added even more since the voting

but for me the tune of the htsl techno thread has to be ANTISTIUS

when im producing the way i really want to be ill be making tunes similar to this.

i love the industrial sound that adam has done on this track. the video compliments it superbly. its like a massive f+#£in steel train that keeps building and building. when you break it down it quite simple really just layered sounds but its making those sounds which stumps me. i dont want to use samples or least as poss! im just finishing a track that im very happy with and when it started out it was based on antistius, but as these things do its evolve into something else.

i love the off filtered droney sound straight off the bat adds lots of momentum to the track and the lfo on the claps is very cool

i really like the way this track chugs along, theres no fills just some very basic and smooth transistions bringing in new sounds. but they all fit and sound equally industrial. i love the “scary” synth at 1:27 theres a preset in sylenth very similar!

i dont know what it is @ 1:49, it sounds similar to a network rail train horn or something but its only used a couple of times in the track but it adds so much feeling for something so simple.

theres two main synths, one starts at 1:34 is more noticable from 2:00 and the other is from 3:00. i need to know how to make these!! they are extremly intense and really make the tune for me. they keep on going and dont get boring, there has to be automation in there somethere?

and another thing … no white noise! lots of the sounds are filter to have a white noise fizz to them but no out and out white noise, something i cant help using im my productions because i dont know other ways of add emphasis to my transistions.

I’ve probably listened to that Beyer Track about 10times today & it didnt get boring.

The Big break in it is wicked. Phenomenal track.

Love all the little sucking sounds that fly in to push it forward.

Alright guys,

Been chasing girls again or rather them chasing me so not had time to listen to all of the tunes. That and I’ve busied myself working away at some theory.

Went and saw Adam Beyer at the weekend. Simply amazing. The guy know’s his art inside out, everything was absolutely perfect. Some idiot was shouting “get on with it” constantly but he obviously hadn’t heard good techno before. I must admit, although his set was banging, it didn’t strike me as all that experimental. Kinda like a rehearsed gig, not really playing anything “out there”. Still, the guy was top and must of all I thoroughly enjoyed what was played.

Right, here’s my wee review on the song I chose. I’m waiting on your’s slender mate, very intrigued to hear your choice man. It’s not a thorough review but you’ll understand why.

I’ve chosen this track because I believe it’s not like any of the others in terms of style or trying to achieve an aim. It’s beautifully crafted with all these glitchy, foreign sounds and thus because of it’s uniqueness would love to see how it’s crafted. The others seem to have their rhythm pretty much spot on and that’s really not what I want to learn, it’s about the genius new way of techno that’s spawning witch is really starting to capture my imagination at the moment.

The Little - What Did you Give to me.

Straight, away at 8 seconds, there is an interesting sound. It sets the atmosphere of a weird, dark abstract tune. From this point up until there is a heavily reverbed, sort of footstep type noise. This is interesting and would like to know how one edits a sample to create this effect.

From here, the overall sound of the song becomes almost alien sounding like, with clever use of the reverb and delay with obvious sample manipulation. Would love to see how this is constructed and arranged so that it all merges together to form one coherent clever mix of sounds. Would also love to see how the guys at sonic academy would create these sounds, preferabbly from scratch if possible.

I wonder if the bass is from a synth as well, or if this has been constructed from samples? For me though, the brilliance of the song lies in it’s weird abstract nature, with the breaks starting and ending with a typical minimal white noise almost as if it has no set arrangement or direction but still managing to find the ability to do so.

At 3.16 the main break to the song ends and enters an even weirder phase as it were and continues on it’s progression, getting heavier. Don’t understand how this is created either and would like to see how this is done. Is it with further elements being added or with a subtle FX change?

Sorry, I couldn’t write more on this song. For me it seems the beauty of it lies in the artist’s ability to mould these crazy sounds into something coherent and enjoyable.

LONG LIVE TECHNO!

Cheers,

Saul

Bang on Saul.

Love those FX - Its like on big collection of random sounds.

Seeing that its an advanced tut - Hope SA would give some time to this area. I’d love to see them looking @ 5 or 6 approaches to making these type of “Spot Sounds”. Things with delays, Big Reverbs, Glitchy things & buzzing / ripping type noises.

You know the ones!

Haha! Nice one Mate! :cool:

Too right mate. I think most of it is clever sample modulation within a tool like Sampler in Abelton, though I’d still like to see how they’d go about making those noises, chopping up samples etc. What things to listen out for when deciding what stuff to use/make and where to use it would be spot on as well.

Perhaps there are other production techniques involved too? I can only imagine the effect of sidechaining these things to make something even more bizarre and awesome? Maybe even bouncing that down and doing even something more with it?

Ha, this train of thought was gifted by a dude kind enough to share his wisdom. Let’s just hope SA can take our ideas that we’re going to present and transform it into something really really eye opening.

Might as well add what to automate within these tools and why you’re doing it/ what should we be looking out for.

Cool Idea - Must try making a few bits in Live with the Sampler like that.

The Sampler in Logic is pretty cool… but Simpler is just so much more instant for making fkd’up sounding stuff.

Interesting read guides very usefull - will be looking and analysing my track in the next few days (thanks to ICN for reminding me which track it actually was :stuck_out_tongue: )

Meanwhile
