Anyone got any ideas on how this bass is done? Im hearing the same technique in more and more tunes recentlyā¦ another good example of it is perc āmandrakeā (cant find a you tube vid for it)
Ive tried put a kick through a big reverb send (pre fader) and then recording the audio out and layering it underneath the original kick. It kinda works but as you can probably guess its difficult to control and the definition isnt quite thereā¦ anyone had any success with this type of bass?

I havent mastered that Kick of doom yet eitherā¦
And personally, Iām not entirely sure whether I want to or not, cos I think its a bit faddy. Its really a signature sound & itāll be gone & sound really dated soon enough - I feel.
Doesnt stop me trying to figure it out though! LOL
I think you need to have a Reverb on the Channel as an Insert. If you have EQ in the Reverb Plug, then you might be able to take a bit of the sh!t out of it.
Theres probably an EQ after the Reverb to take the added Boom out from the Kick.
Its probably - I think - a Hall type reverb. Thats safe enough to say I hope. Theres a good bit of the top taken out by EQ as well to dull it.
The type of Kick has a lot to do with it too. You possibly need something with a bit of a lo-hat orĀ other kind of high soundĀ on it to give a bit of definition to the mess - If you know what I mean.
Listening to lots of tracksā¦ you hear all sorts of reverbā¦ Nice clean ones & real grainy metallic ones. I think the trick is to have someĀ kind ofĀ noise.Ā Doesnt have to be from the kick per-seā¦ but by trying different things, you can comeĀ up with your own version.

yeh tried it as an insert first but it got a little bit too messy. I get a little closer with it as a send and return.
Totally agree its just a fad in terms of whats about now but as you say it would be nice to figure it out and at get the technique right.
I use logic pro 9 and ableton
