Yes there is but I'm talking about being able to affect node positions through velocity as well, not just automation.
I could imagine being able to set a velocity range for each node, both on the x and y axis. So, for example, a hard (high velocity) hit would would give you a node at a higher pitch, arriving faster (earlier) in time than a soft hit. Or having velocity only affect the first amplitude nodes of a sound, just giving you a different attack based on velocity, while the overall loudness stays the same. Lots of possibilities.
