I agree sampling isn’t that hard, it’s just getting the sample to sound right:)
More on making a sample sound right.
im using logic pro 9…
are there actually any sampling tutorials on here already ??
i have recently downloaded a few sample packs and would like help in cutting them up, looping them (so a one shot becomes a sustained note / sample til the key is released)
loads of tutorials out there that only show how to map drum kits which is reasonably straight forward, but i want to be able to chop a vocal up, or sample a bass line and map it across my keyboard so i can play going up or down in a correct scale … etc etc
nothing to in depth just a general exs24 tut would be nice
Hi Eddie,
I’m a logic pro user to, The quickest way to get a sampled chopped up, placed into EXS24 and ready to play via midi is the following:
Place your audio file ( the loop ) into logic.
Then go to the audio tab
Click on “Convert Regions to new sample track”
a pop up box will appear,
tick “Transient Markers” and then
on “Trigger note Range” use the drop down arrow and pick C1
Then click ok.
It should now create a new EXS24 with the audio file chopped up and ready to play via Midi.
This is the quickest and easiest way to work on logic, i prefer using Recycle but this way works just as good.
hope that helps any question please ask.

Didn’t read this bit!
im not sure myself how to get a sampled bass mapped across the midi keyboard so it goes up and down the scale. good question! i hope someone can answer.
my guess would be that as you sampled the bass you have to manually edit it to the key you want and would have to do that for all of them!
