The difference between you and a pro producer
howiegroove (18/02/2010)
.at least not commercially.
Same, we just have crap in our UK charts.

its all subjective.you either have it or you dont.
howiegroove (18/02/2010)
thats why i wish i was in the UK. I never hear good music here…at least not commercially.
Yanks get working holiday Visas in the UK so you can move over and work for a year.

But if I want to go work in the US I have to be a damn student and I hate damned students (jealous hate mind)

i think the major difference between the Pro’s and Amateurs is attention to detail (small things) and the fact that most amateurs over produce tracks. sometimes i think the only major difference is that they get there asses kissed for their opinions yet if we said exactly the same thing we would be slated for it.

i love some of the top producers stuff but would also go as far as to say that if we tried to release some of the stuff that top producers have it would simple be laughed at

Yes - I have to say I’m a little cynical about the opinions of professional producers just because they are established in the industry. Although they have obviously proven themselves commercially successful by being able to do the job they do, much of what I tend to listen to and get a good ‘feeling’ from (a term that I am particularly suspicious of when describing a track due to its overtly subjective vagueness) wouldn’t, I am sure, be something they might necessarily agree on. Of course, I would never just discount a pro-producers opinion on something without considering it first, but I wouldn’t accept it as gospel just because of his or her position in the industry. Commercial and artistic success don’t necessarily marry together.

I think i created a monster…

not at all howard, some people are worth listening to and others not so much and some should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

if the person you are referring to as you friend in your post is rob then as far as producing goes i think his info is rock solid 99% of the time, i wouldn’t always agree with his choice of plug-ins but like we had discussed its personal taste.

i think the point is that just because someone has made something that is popular at the moment doesn’t make them a good producer, maybe they are just lucky to has stumbled upon a sound that became popular only time will tell. also someone doesn’t necessarily have to know there way round the studio to sell music.

i remember watching the Funkagenda dvd and thinking god this guy is really blagging his way through this video and is not very good at explaining what he is doing, doesn’t make him a bad producer.

making good music and making music that sells imo is two completely different things

cool reply dude,  but surely that is the main aim to…" marry "the commercial and artistic  side of things to get to the level you want ?

nah, i just meant that i created a monster by explaining something that i wanted to talk about (feeling music rather than technicals) and its spurned all over the damn place. If this keeps progressing, we are gonna be talking about the porno industry in no time at all!

So… Tara Patrick for newest starlet???

don’t think we should talk about porn, not with it being SA main rival for our interweb viewing
