Congrats

Congratulations man . i would love to see your tech tips in a video . i tried an still doesn’t make sense to me. maybe i am just thinking too much about the technique
Thanks Theant. Thants.
Alinenunez: It’s an odd one, but it does work with a little experimentation. Try upping the tempo that you start with if your desired final tempo is fast. I am confident that one of these boys can explain it better than I have, and I greatly look forward to seeing their attempt!
EDIT: I would add that this tip works less well in genres which rely on high-end gloss (trance, UK funky, crunk), and better in genres where a little darkness is allowed (darkside jungle, industrial, Aphexy stuff, chopped ‘n’ screwed hip-hop, the grimmer ends of electro and techno)
I think SA are going to make it into a tut, I think that was part of it.
?? i don’t get how that won the pad ? it was crap ? seriously out of all the amazing tips this one ? this site never surprises me !!
As a wise man once said
Don’t care
Congrats to the winner though even if the tip is a tad confusing
Roben (01/06/2011)
Well I was right about one thing… twas a random. One day someone on the forums will win something… i’m hoping at least, then at least we can make a thread about it and give a big congrats and stuff.
The stupid thing about this comp is that there is the rest of us for years who’ve been posting up advice, tips, useful links, free plug ins, answering questions etc etc for years, willingly helping people out.
Then this comp comes along and people who can’t even be bothered to say even a simple ‘hello’ on the forums gets a copy and paste tip from somewhere on the net (or copies it from a CM/FM mag), spams their friends to ‘like’ ‘their’ tip and then wins an iPad.
It’s all selfish, how about investing time on the forums helping others without the promise of a prize???
If anyone deserves to really win a prize lately i think it’s JamieNY. I’m so dissapointed by the outcome of this comp.
People choose to contribute to the forums for free by choice. Giving stuff to them should never be expected. Here’s how this particular Ipad giveaway works:
Comp for Ipad
People go to the facebook page to try to win it
Exposure to SA increases
More people sign up, more profits to SA, more/better tutorials for us
People tell their friends to vote for them
Exposure to SA increases
More people sign up, more profits to SA, more/better tutorials for us
Chat on the facebook page increases, people see their friends posting on there via their news feed
Exposure to SA increases
More people sign up, more profits to SA, more/better tutorials for us
SA becomes known as a cool place that does high quality giveaways
Exposure to SA increases
More people sign up, more profits to SA, more/better tutorials for us
It’s pretty simple to me! Just because you’re not getting treats from a service that you choose to volunteer to, doesn’t mean you should be dissapointed. If anything, I’m excited by the potential of new people to the site!
Have you seen the fb page? That anders guy is really having a dig.
Would love to see that guy on the forums, forget scott lol
Jamie is a cnut - Give him nothing.
Charge him double - thats what I say! :hehe:
I have laughed some what at Anders posts, wish he’d join the forums, would make for more entertaining reading that’s for sure
Funnier than Scott? yet to be seen still…
we have got more comps lined up - and we will try and do something special for the forum users this time round
how about you throw your comments and ideas here and see if you’s can’t come up with something that will keep you all happy
A standing discount for repeat subscribers would be cool…
One which could be used to resubscribe & not dependant on time or special offer.
How about a special prize for people who have releases on June 1st like the one below
Control Brain EP by A Hvich on MP3, WAV, FLAC, AIFF & ALAC at Juno Download

already in development!
Well… Like last year Bryan: I hope it comes out before my subscription ends.
There was a survey back ages ago & the codes were coming & coming & coming and in the end, didnt come for me and lots of others. I resubbed of course regardless. Would have been really nice though.
Not complaining Mate… jst feedback. Hope you take it that way
Timeframes & promises need to be realistic.
The Carphone Warehouse have a motto - underpromise / overdeliver. Cheesy sh!t - but theres good sense behind it

things wont be the same as before the takeover - that you can rely on. its me and phil running it now and we aim to deliver everything that we promise. - we have a lot of redevelopment going on at the minute, back end and front - all to improve your user experience
Well maybe something that was put into place on the forums that gave members an incentive to share great knowledge, tips, etc.
I just have a problem with people coming on the forums, asking a question then buggering off again, never even returning the favour by then also helping others on the forum.
Seemed to me like everyone was quick to post a tip on the facebook page “because there was a comp involved” but no one cares or bothers to help other people out ‘just because’ on the forums??? It’s always us regulars who help out about the forums (in between having a bit of banter of course), but whilst we’re the people who keep the SA spirit alive and help with any issues on the forum, it’s randoms who get the wins.
You can’t just take and not give, it’s like leeching without seeding, it psses me off, that’s what my gripe is all about.
For example JamieNY has been so fantastic on the forums in recent months and - like everyone else here on the forums - doesn’t do it for a ‘return’ or a prize but do it because it helps out and makes a difference to others as well as it helping SA out. Could you imagine how dead and sht this forum would be without us regulars?
I’ve been here for over 3 years now and i’ve seen some really valued regulars just get treated like this, putting effort in and being made to feel like they’re not valued… Jon & Howie to name just two, and look what happened, they don’t even bother being a regular here anymore, that’s two good people right there who always helped newbies with their problems and benefited this forum.
Could you imagine what would happen if we lost BangtheDJ or JamieNY?
Or how about all us regulars just fcked off, ICN, myself, egg, slender, jpgetty2win… etc, etc. It’s not like the randoms care to help out a newbie to the forum with any Qs they have is it?
I’m not saying regulars need gifts, it’s just it takes the pss BIG TIME when it’s us regulars who MAKE THE DIFFERENCE, but it’s the randoms - who clearly don’t even give two sh*ts about SA - who are benefitting? That’s not right… promotion or no promotion.
Thanks Roben for your comment about me a ways back!
ICN and slender will tell you that I’m not interested in prizes or money from doing this type of work. Even if something I write gets signed/bought/published, I have already made the vow to donate the proceeds to people in need, especially those with illnesses or other debilitating conditions that might require transportation to and from clinics, or perhaps to buy a wig for someone undergoing chemo treatments who might need an esteem-building item to help them feel better about themselves in times of great duress. To me, THAT is what is important; Not a prize for having what may or may not be the best tip for a production.
I understand why the guys at SA do these sorts of things. They are running a business. And luckily for us, it is successful! I didn’t join that competition because as an experienced professional musician, I vehemently disagree with music being used as a competitive vehicle for ANYTHING. I have been playing the piano since I was 4 years old, and I have devoted my life to music. I just won’t have any part in reducing it to a series of squabbles and posts over something that is so subjective, and so difficult to judge from an objective standpoint. That’s exactly why I denounced and left sites like Soundcloud and Indaba and other places of the sort. Too busy worrying about who or what is better than actually paying attention to what music actually is in the FIRST PLACE, and how one might express their own voice through it.
Secondly, I am the least religious person I know, but if I were to be faithful, I would KNOW that Facebook is Satan incarnate. I just can’t imagine the time wasted on that site when so many other productive things can be done in the meantime. I’m proud to say I’m not a follower or member of that website of the beast. That’s the second reason why I didn’t join that competition.
There… There’s my $0.02. Thanks again Roben. I very much appreciate your comments!
And ICN is right, I am a cnut!
Hahaha :w00t:
:hehe:

like i said we’ve got lots of development stuff in the works - one aspect is incentives for users to help out so that would fall into that category.
we can only move as fast as our web developers though.
in the mean time we obviously appreciate everyone chirping in and helping each other out and we are putting a lot of money into the site to get a system in place that rewards users for doing that.
