Why Mp3?

What about the difference between 16 & 24bit Guys?

I can sometimes tell the difference cos the 16bit was probably just made badly or sounds a bit fkd… but I would probably find it hard to tell a good 16 is not a 24.

Some of the vengeance ones spring to mind.

I have heard some samples that have different versions available - 16/24 on the same pack - and no difference to my ears. I do try to use 24bit as much as possible - especially on Kicks.

If you’re using 320k files in your productions then that is NOT a good thing.
roben (17/08/2010)
There is a difference between .wav and .mp3, try getting two of the same track, one in wav and one in mp3, take a listen yourself. The .wav is more ‘full’ sounding.
nope none. sure i can say there is a difference when i have them in front of me looking at them but but its different on a blind test. i’ve just extracted a CD and converted the file to 320mp3 using BiasPeak 6, Played them randomly on my system and i can’t tell the difference between that and the wav.

If you’re that confident that you’ll be able to spot the difference roben, pop round mine with your CDJ2000’s and the nice new mixer i’ll blind test you and if you get it wrong i get to keep your CDJ’s and Mixer

I dont want to make you cry.

Whats that… is that a little smile? Ahh dont cry… :hehe:

We’ll leave it like this - If it sounds good to you - Use it.

& Dont forget - Sampling @ lower bitrates saves you bitcrushing!

I’ve avoided similar posts elsewhere for the same reason.

The Big Bores tend to come out of their Labs when the fine detail is being discussed
alinenunez (17/08/2010)
I sincerely dont get wav file because most of people cant tell the difference!! plus all Digital stores charge you extra for wav handling wich i think it is ver Abusive .
Abusive is a bad word. If you think about why, there is a great reason they charge more. Its all about SPACE. A wave file takes 8-10 times more space then an MP3 file does. So…its not abusive at all.
