Hey folks, I sent this email to the Sonic Academy cust service and they suggested I post it here, about some success I’ve been having thanks to SA:
Back in 2021 Sonic Academy ran a remix competition to remix Baharat, a track by Jerome Isma-Ae, on Jee Productions. I didn’t really know what I was doing back then but managed to pull a remix together, helped by some of your tutorials, and entered. Amazingly, I was one of the three finalists and won my first proper release on the remix package.
Following that remix, I sent a bunch of tracks to Jerome in the hopes that he might like some of my originals. And he did. In fact he signed two of my tracks. it took an age for them to be released, but a month ago the first of them came out on Jee - called Kaleidoscope. Jerome himself did the remix and it blew up, getting playlisted by Above and Beyond and getting called out by a bunch of DJs at ADE.
In a couple of weeks the second release comes out, with a remix by Digital Mess, and it’s already getting good support on DJ promo. These big releases are giving me so many options as I further my musical career. More producers want to collaborate, I’ve got other labels interested in my work and I’ve gathered thousands of new fans on Soundcloud and Spotify.
But more importantly, thanks to things like Kick 2, Ana 2 and your tutorials (a great one with Enamour) I’m a better producer too. I’m getting really happy with the stuff I’m making and developing every day. As an artist that’s the best thing - when you can hear your own progress.
I really appreciate the role SA have played in my musical journey. Hope you’re all having good luck too!
