2 New tracks

Hey guys:

Two new tracks.

Feedback Appreciated.

The light-

Really nice track man! I like the melody and the bassline goes great with it. However at, 2:26 that explosion is really loud, almost as loud as the drop! When the drop kicks in, to me it doesnt slam as hard since that explosion was so loud. And I think you should maybe decrease the bass of the kick before the main drop, to really emphasize it!

Chasing -

I honestly didn’t like this one as much as “The Light”. I don’t like the melody or the timbre from 4:00 - 5:00. Iono, just doesn’t sound pleasing to me.

Cheers for the honest replies, helps alot.

I think I probably compressed it a bit to much and that point really shows, Ill try to re master it or reduce that bit

And yeah I dunno what chasing really is. I made a midi for a different track then got bored one night and made it into what it is! Its too quick really for house and has too much of a ‘happy’ melody I think :hehe:

Hey there xpa,

I agree for the most part with gpham, the explosion before the drop shouldn’t be as loud as the drop it self. Id like to add for the light that I think you can do without the kick coming in at 1:28 and just go straight into the build for the drop (2:30) and then double the length of the drop. Just my opinion but I think the kick part takes away from the flow of the track. You should also work more on the mix, don’t try and fix things in the master, unless the mix sounds exactly how you want it to. Seems like I just have criticisms this is not the case, I much enjoyed the synths and melodies/chord progressions, the percussion however doesn’t seem to hit as hard as it should, again fix in the mix. Go back and re-EQ and compress elements that need it. The vocal sample at the end, should be somewhere in the middle during a breakdown.

For Chasing, same thing with the kick coming in before a drop, make them wait for it, it’ll hit much harder  Try to use different percussion instead of a kick, you could go as basic as a clap on each beat (like a kick) or mix it up with toms or cymbals, anything really. This track could also use a mixdown, eqing and compressing again, you don’t need a compressor on everything, but you should A-B the difference and check how it makes a difference, also think about panning, if a sound is very wide, with lots of stereo width, it won’t have very much punch, it will get lost in the mix easily. So for more punch to melodies and such keep them very close to center, and you will hear them much better than if theyre panned or spread. This doesn’t mean you want everything dead centre, stuff that you don’t want as present in the mix, such as stabs or pads, strings should be spread to give room for the punchy sounds to go down the centre.

Hope I’ve been a help/given you some stuff to think about

Cheers

Yeah definitely

I see what you mean. I really need to work on compression and EQ I think! I never put too much thought into it.

Just got some traktor s2’s so have been a wee bit occupied with them for the time being aha, but ill make the edits on the light and also play about with chasing on trying to get the sounds to sit better.

Cheers for the feedback guys

I have to agree the first one stands out more… specially the beginning, damnit that sounds cleanbr
br
nice work!

Not sure (because of monitoring over headphones) whether the kick is carrying the track enough. It seems to me the kick is lacking a bit of body. You might consider compressing it slightly with a short attack to get the tail of the kick up.
