A few general hardware syth questions and some re thew Virus TI2

Been saving up for one, looking like Jan, maybe sooner depending on when my invoices get paid…

Anyway, I read something about you can also use it as a soundcard for your DAW, anyone know about this?

I was looking at buying another soundcard so I could have one decitated for traktor instead of swapping everytime but if this is the case I wont need to?

Anyone know what the differances are between the polar, desktop and full version? Is it just the colour and keyboard or is there more to it?

I like the sound of the virus becuase of the total recall you can get on patchs along with other things. Is this common across all hardware synths or is this just because the virus has a GUI?

Also how would you layer a hardware synth? its is a simple as bounching to audio and then layering another one over or or their ways to do it.

And last of all does anyone know of any other cool things it can do??

Please no replys with dont get it or its **** or off topic bullocks! :D;) (unless it really fuuny stuff) :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont know much about the TI, but i know that on my virus b it has a multi mode which basically means that you can select a patch, and determine which midi channel controls it, program it how you like, and then set another layer on top, controlled by the same midi channel or another if you like, and program that sound independently so you can layer that way… but to be honest i personally prefer the bounce to audio and record another layer method, it gives you more control for effects etc i feel

For my TI2 I plug it in with the usb and I can have 16 tracks from it running at once, for bouncing it down I just set up a new audio channel and resample onto it! I can’t see myself ever making another track without it if I am honest, it is my best ever buy by far!

Also access are having a 20% off every from tomorrow for a few day so you could pick up a bargin!

what about the using it as a soundcard mate? you tried that???

The only soundcard I use is the one in my pc and the only thing that is linked with are my monitors!

Sorry not much help, I am hopeless when it comes to the tech side of things as if it doesn’t plug and play I am fooked!..lol

Yes, I’ve used mine as an asio sound card in Ableton.  Once installed it shows up as an available sound card option.  The latency was snappy low if I remember correctly.  I did eventually upgrade to a different sound card with more inputs.

The difference between the Polar, Desktop and Keyboard versions is physical form factor.  The brains are the same.  Only the Snow has less power.

Cheers mate!

Bone, you should look into that mate, will be much better then using your PC sound card.

Look in the ableton prefferances, change it and hook your montiors up to your virus I would think

Will take alook tomorrow at it when in the studio, everything runs sweet as at the moment so haven’t needed to look at doing it another way.
