Hey Phil… I thought of a good idea for tutorials (or another section of the website). The basis of any good producer is a sound knowledge of synthesis. There should be a section of the site where you explain in depth (either video, print, sound, or combination of the three) specific parts of synthesis and what things might sound like. Showing people how to make sounds and how to do things is great, but if they don’t have a solid foundation in synthesis, its all for not.
What do you think?
Who’s with me?
i have already mentioned this before lol
i think its a great idea this would be a huge section, it would need to be separated in several section so it doesn’t become overly confusing.
Additive
Subtractive
Spectral
Physical Modeling
Frequency Modulation
Wavetable
Sample and synth
Granular
these are some of the types of synthesis, imo the most useful ones to cover in depth would be subtractive, FM, Granular and Wavetable, although im sure other people would pick different types from that list.
But what Sonic Academy should do that no one else does, is say, “this is what this sounds like” and put an audio clip.
