Ableton Analogue or Operator tutorial please

Hi Sonic Academy dudes!

I love all the tutorials here and have plenty to work through. I understand you using Sylenth and working with Simpler as an alternative as everyone using Ableton will have Simpler, but I wondered if you could do a few micro videos on using Analogue or Operator for a few basic sounds just to get us going if we do have them.

By all means carry on doing Sylenth tutorials as I understand we all have different VST and that one is great.

i think this is something that maybe google or youtube would be more than adequate for.

Yeah I know I can get videos on youtube/google but I love the teaching style of Sonic Academy and they teach other tech tips, so I don’t see why this is more appropriate somewhere else. This is a great community for sharing tips and learning stuff so here is a good a place as any!

Since I have sylynth, operstor and analogue with a bit of practise you can emulate the sounds created in the tuts in abletons plugins - it will also help you understand both the good and bad points of those synths

I actually like all three and would not object to some tec tips in operstor and analogue as I would imagine alot of people here would have at least one of them

Analog is your standard 2 osc subtractor synth with dual filters. Its super simple to learn once you sit down with it for a couple hours.

Operator might seem intimidating too. Most FM synths can be. It uses the principals of Modulators and Carriers. The carrier is the osc that is carrying the tone. The Modulator is basically an LFO that moves the Carrier super fast changing the tone. then there are a whole slew or routing options that go along with this. Personally, I stick to subtractive. I know enough about FM through fiddling around to hold my own, but whatever. Personally, I find sampling the most interesting form of synthesis. But thats just me. If you just play around with it instead of watching videos, I promise you that you will learn more!

i never said it was more appropriate some place else  i only suggested taking the initiative to look at some free tutorials while you wait for s.a. to answer your request ,both synths are designed for ease of use and seriously anyone that goes step by step with any decent tut will learn their functions.there are literally hundreds of them online, majority completely free and go much more indepth than sonic probably will(just look at their compression tut(hopefully you get my drift))and are available right now,you do not have to wait.that is the point of my original post…i dont know how you deduced anything else from it.i cant think of a more appropriate place to request a tutorial than a “tutorial request” subforum

Thanks everyone the FM thing scares me a little, sitting down with analogue I do get it, jut wondered if I was missing anything.

I too enjoy using simpler the most ironically.

Yup I do know how to google thanks  I wasn’t intending to come across as lazy or showing a lack of initiative, just trying to be constructive in the ‘request a tutorial’ section of the board.

I watch videos on youtube about this hobby a plenty, I still think the Sonic Academy ones are some of the best!

i forget that sometimes offering help or advice on music forums just puts people on the defensive.good luck to you.

Bobby I think you’ve misread me

I don’t mean to be defensive I was just trying to continue the thread after your post which kinda came across as ‘google it’ :stuck_out_tongue:

So yes maybe a bit defensive but hopefully you can understand why. This forum is super helpful compared to so many that aren’t and as you said it’s easy to get used to having to be defensive because normally when you ask a question on a forum you get links to google it or all the unhelpful people posting crap.

Sorry to misjudge you dude. Hopefully you won’t misjudge me

Just watching the tech House tutorial and there is quite a bit of detail on Synth programming which works well for any Synth.

I can easily use that for other instruments!

Sweet, the new analogue vs Sylenth tips is just what I need!

Well it would be if it was streaming - wierd because all the other new ones work
