Ableton Automaton Question

Ok so I have 2 vst’s loaded on different tracks, same sound but with slightly different envelops and fx’s and one track is set as a send only, going into a filter delay. Each track has auto filters on them.

I want to automate both auto filters at the same time with my midi controller, like with a macro or somthing. However I need to keep the track set up like this (i.e. keep fx’s and send only).

I cant group them and put an auto filter on as this would exclude the send on the send only track.

Anyone have a solution for this??

If you copy an audio effect from one track to another it also copies automation

thats the one

Cheers guys but is this the only solution? No way I can do them both “live” so to speak, I was thinking maybe an instrument rack as u have macro, but never used it so not sure how it would work if at all, not even sure if you can load vst’s into it and then theres the issue of the fx’s?

All else fails copy n paste will do

There’s nothing stopping you from assigning a midi control to more then one parameter. So you can have the same knob or slider controlling both filters.

are you having probs with instrument rack ? because if so you know that you can drop as many synths as you like into drum rack and then use pitch utility to split your key board into sections for each synth part and then use sends from each synth within drum rack if you use the return button within the rack !

Nope… never used it, dont really know what its for! no in front of my studio pc to check it out right now.

Can u load vsts into it with different fx chains with send etc?

@ted - never thought of that

Cool, that sound like what I’m looking for. Whats best for this drum or instrument rack? Do they both have macro controls?

So far I’ve only really used impluse when it come to ableton built in instruments. Still pretty new to it.

actually here it is drum rack - load synths into wherever -c1 c2 etc on the drum rack pads - hit the three lines on the panel of the drum rack this brings up the control pan chain part of the rack beneath that you have A i/o S and R, hit R and drop your fx in the drop audio fx here part this will automatically give you send return on individual synths .

also if you want to know how to split your synths to key board hit one of your synths on the rack pad and drop a pitch utility on it on the pitch utility you will see at the bottom of the utility a lowest key tab set the synt to the lowest key you want the synth to start from and above that you will see a range tab set that to say +12 or + 24 etc hope this helps if your stuck hit me up on aim man
