Ableton Chord and Scale Question

Hi All,/PPGot a query regarding chord and scale in ableton. As we know scales are made up of both major and minor chords. If i set up a b minor scale plugin with a minor chord plugin does this mean that when i press the keys on my keyboard it will only play the minor chords of the scale? If so how do you set it up to play all the chords within the designated scale?/PPThanks.

Make sure the scale plug in is last in the midi effects chain, just before the synth mate, that way all the midi coming from the chord plug in will go through it and come out sticking to whatever scale you have selected. On the chord plug in, if you select +3 and +7 this will play a minor 3rd and a perfect 5th above any note you press but the scale plug in after it will keep it all in the key/scale selected. Whatever scale you select, just use the keys that belong to it and the chord and scale will do the rest. No, it should play all the chords that belong to the scale (major, minor and diminished) Scale moves whatever midi comes out of the Chord plug in to the relevant note in the key.

You don’t have to only press the keys in whatever scale you pick but say, if you pick B minor, you press B it will play the 1 chord but if you press a key outside of the scale like C, it moves it to the nearest note in the scale so you would end up just playing the 1 chord again.

Thanks Pal that makes sense just wasn’s too sure how it worked. Will give it a go and will also record the out put of the chords to check that they all fall with in the required scale etc. Thanks once again

No problem mate
