I exported an hour long AIFF file on ableton and it said the size is 850 MB. Normally these are about 200 MB. Can anyone tell me why it exported as such a larger file than normal? It says the file is an hour long, and I can’t seem to find any reason why it would be so big (twss)
aiff is uncompressed audio, if it is 16bit 44.1kHz then I would expect the size of the file to be approx 10MB per minute - so 200MB is completely unrealistic.
At 200MB for 1 hour you would be able to get 3.5 hours of audio on an audio CD instead of the 80 minutes actually possible.
Wouldnt it be more like a 1gb?

It depends on the sample rate and bit depth. I would expect an hour at 16bit 44.1KHz to be abpout 600 MB.
