Hello people,
i’m all out of ideas. I started working on a new track. Added only a bass, kick, rev, kick, drumrack with hats and a audio clip with atmosphere.
The thing is that ableton is slow with this project. When i hit play it takes like 2-3 seconds before it starts, everything is delayed by 2-3 seconds. It is very annoying and i have no idea what is causing it. I don’t have a lot of effect or reverbs working on it.
I started singling out some tracks to see if i could find where the problem is. I found out that it happens on the drumrack with the hats in it. I deleted some samples from it what helped for a few minutes then it started again. Now i have just 4 samples in the rack which are used and i don’t think it is to much…
any ideas what might be causing the problem?
Actually, I had something similar happen to me just last night. It was the first time it had ever happened. I was helping someone from here on a project he was making and the live set he sent me wasn’t too terribly complicated, but I clicked on one of the clips and it just froze. Ended up having to force quit Ableton… I’ve had issues where Ableton wanted a bug report sent, but nothing like this. It was weird, and I have no idea what caused it.

Maybe a bug that effects the latency in the latest version??
it was definitely the hats drum rack. I took it out completely and all problems gone…
i still wonder what makes it dysfunction properly
Does it happen with older projects that have Drum Racks in them too?
I’m sure it does… but just wondering
no that is the odd part… just this rack with these specific samples… i suppose the samples i used are the problem…
Mad.
Are they on a different HD or something to the other ones?
weird problem, gotta love ableton sometimes
something to try, at least for the sake of an experiment, is when you load the problematic samples into the drum rack, convert the simpler’s to samplers and then activate the “RAM” button to force ableton to load it into memory, does this make any difference?
If it does, then it could just be a hard drive issue possibly in loading those specific samples, perhaps damaged sectors or something
What operating system, processor and RAM specs are you using?
Odds are its that the hard drive latency → load into ableton causing the problem.
I’ve had problems like this before with my external drive being stuck/slow…
I usually find this only happens if my computer is on for days at a time.
Most of the time a simple reboot solves the problem.
my specs are:
macbook pro 2.4 GHz core 2 duo 4 gb 1067 MHz DDR3
i think i bought the simplest macbook pro
i have a midi keyboard and apc40 connected to it via usb and using bluetooth mouse
but rebooting didn’t solve it, i’ll try changing simpler to samplers
never had problems with latency before and since i deleted the drumrack everything is “back to normal”
