Ableton Latency

What are good settings to have the input buffer size (input latency) and output buffer (output latency) sizes too?

I’m aware it’s likely to be dependant on how fast your computer is but what is about average? I’m running AMD Phenom II X2 545 3Ghz processor with 6Gb of RAM on Windows 7.

Open the help view, the second lesson is called “Learn how to setup your audio hardware” and walks you through how to figure out the best settings.

If you would like to learn about how to use Ableton, I suggest going to the tutorials in the Ableton help menu. They are great for beginners and should be able to help you out with many of your questions you might have. If you need any more help, please feel free to ask and we can assist you with it.

latency is only an issue if you are playing a instrument, if you are playing an instrument anything from 1 to 50 ms anything after that and you may start to notice.

if you don’t play midi into your DAW turn you latency all the way up and save yourself some cpu cycles

latency is the difference between when you press the key and you hear the sound for instance mine on ableton is

Input 13

Output 17

Total Latency 30 ms

30 ms is not a lot
