Just did a quick over view of the new features and Plugins etc.
Wadaya think? I personally cant wait!
Abletons great even though I don’t know how to use it xD. I know the jist of what you can do with it and what it offers. Yea you are offering a preview on it at the open day in two weeks. I have my name down for it already cant wait.
Any indication of what the day will consist of Phil?
I think niks working on it at the mo… but it will def include ableton 8 and logic 8.
normally a couple of hours of each with questions and tips etc… all pretty informal.
Awesome,
Just been looking at the new features and once again Ableton have listened to their users and improved it - brilliant!!!
Also was on the official site and noticed that Ableton had teamed up with AKAI and produced a new controller - how good does this bit of kit look. I was thinking of purchasing a trigger finger now i’m gonna wait and bu one of these babys!!!
Check it out and let me know what you guys think - i’m sure it will change the way ableton is used in a live environment.
Cheers for this Phil, that vocoder is awesome!! Really loving that as well as the xfade option.
BUT they still haven’t sorted out the two things that really bug me on Live 7:
- No snap to grid option for the automation in the arrange page
- The inability to mute all channels at the same time in the overview page. For example if I want to listen to only 2, 3 or 4 sections and not the rest of what i’ve placed in there. In cubase i was able to multi solo channels, solo in Live litrally only solos one part. (not sure if any of that made sense, hard to explain exactly)
you can solo multiple tracks… go to prefs/record-warp-launch/ arm/solo exclusive
Cant wait to get my hands on the apc40 and ableton 8-this is the controller ive been waiting for proper slick !

Sweet, thanks for that mate! What is ‘arm’?
Hi Mate,
thank what Phil means by ‘arm’ is when the track is ready for playing but not actually playing.
You can do this in live 7 if you have the quantise set to say 2 bars - you can arm the track ready for play two bars in advance.
sex, ableton & house music
cant wait to check it out!
