Any ideas when that will come out?
I’m hoping that with that they input the ability to split up the sections of the screen such as being able to have the mixer on another screen for example.
Yeah… I’ve been using it a little bit recently.
Would like that… or at least screensets, or tabs… like in Logic.
Next year is what I have been told. They have just started working on it.
Lets hope for double screen goodness
Also would like a spectrum built into EQ 8
With buttons for Low Cut / Bell etc… & Slopes.
yeah i dont think it will be any time this year. they only just got max and the bridge working nicely!

No no. My boy works for Ableton. Right now they are compiling a list of changes they want to make. Up on top of the list is 64bit support and from what I have been told, Native Instruments newest version of Traktor basically leapfrogged everyone in terms of DJ functionality, so you will see some changes that will better suit the Ableton DJ as well. Other then that, check out www.Ableton.com and you will see a list of wishes that users have for the next iteration of Live. If you know anything about the history of Live, you know that they listen to their user base.
Hope that helps without being too cryptic.
ooo cool hope they make dont ruin the dj dynamic of live though!
spilt screens would be ace, even better would be the ability to drag and drop windows where ever you want also some kinda smart tools with the mouse pointer like in Sonar X1
Yeah…
Hit ESC - You get tools.
& a Hide button for tracks.

u want this or this is already there?
Ableton could do with new morden GUI imo
I dnt mind, the whole split screen thing all you have to do is press a button you lazy bastards lol, im more for automation curves and export to mp3 tbh…
It’s not about that though jan, why have to keep flicking back and forth? Would be really nice if they implimented it so i could have mixer on one screen and arrangement in another, or even putting the plug in’s on one screen whilst i have more screen space to see more of the arrangement for example.

This is another thing that Ableton needs to do, mildly annoys me having to draw in a curve lol.

Im almost positive that this is showing up. As for an arrange and session view on two separate screens, I’m gonna doubt that since Ableton likes to shy away from the traditional DAW approach.
And with respect to its GUI, I dont think thats gonna change either. Thats why Live is so easy for people to get after they update it. Everything is the same in terms of the layout, etc. So I dunno.
I doubt that ableton 9 comes out this year. I can see it like 3rd or 4th quarter 2012 though.
But they like others might wait to see if the world ends first… who knows…
jking… but in all seriousness. The reason I say I doubt that 9 comes out this year is that they are still hiring more developers for Ableton 9. If they are hiring more developers it is because they are ramping up development timetable so that they can get the work done this year for a release next year.
Making a software application like ableton takes a long time.
I truly doubt to that they will radically change the GUI as thats one off their unique selling points
