Ableton live or Cubase

hahahaha I love how my previous post f*cked up the width settings on this thread :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Scrolling across on my iPhone isn’t funny!

Hm, it’s really difficult to say, I like both, but for me cubase is more convenient, if you want to create techno or house you’d better to use ableton, I think… But for trance cubase is incomparable:Whistling:

Coming in a bit late to this one… but its not about what you have, but how you use it.

Cubase is obviously more traditional… Ableton is more of a new kid on the block.

Each have their strengths… and weaknesses.

You can do absolutely anything you want in Cubase. Unlimited possibilities.

Ableton’s stongest features are the fact that all of its FX are easy to use & are all over a lot of the Tech-House / Minimal tracks that you love… So you’ll be able to get into that sound almost immeadiately if you have Ableton.

Best of both worlds - have Cubase & get a soundcard or new midicontroller keyboard that comes bundled with a version of Live… Its the same as Live Intro & has all the FX & you can make the bones of tracks & export or rewire.

Personally, I haveĀ Logic as my main - but I also use Live Intro in this way. I find it a good little sketchpad.

of course there is a diff in sound quality between DAW’s …basically the better the programmers…the better the quality …the lowest latency & plug-ins !!! …

that’s it …that’s all

Adobe has the best programmers in the world …so its understandable that they have the best sound engine’s …if enough producers became interested in Adobe Audition it could & would become the best DAW !!!..it’s mastering tools are just totally awesome …the best !!

Audition kicks ProTools butt …even just Sound Booth kicks Pro Tools butt in sound output …

just the fact that you can take a favourate track …a track that you think has been mixed & mastered really good & is really loud & clear

& you really wish your track could get that loud while retaining its EQ quality ā€œnon destructiveā€ …well in Audition or Sound Booth in just 2 moves all the frequencies & levels in both tracks are calculated …"i think, if i remember correctly… you can analyze up to 10 tracks at once "

& your track is pretty much guaranteed to be just as loud & clear as your fav track

…you might need to tweak just a couple of things abit on rare occasions…but it should be close enough …& finally its DC OFFSET kicks butt… the best !!

as a long time Cubase & Adobe user …i think if i didn’t rely on Cubase Instruments so much …i would definitely switch to Audition if Adobe was also willing to start to improve the DAW… by creating Instruments

whoops i almost forgot …& it’s Spectrum Analyzer is totally cool !!;)

yes, but ableton has the prettiest clip colours

I tried out Ableton and found that I really could not get to grips with it…It’s not that it is difficult or anything, I guess that it was just me!

I have heard it said that if you are into dance/techno type music then Ableton is the way to go but I can’t comment on that.

I prefer Cubase which has been around for many years now and in my opinion is truly great.

Reaper is not that bad either…!!!

Later…

I hear ye, MiDi and i agree, if you’re main stuff is most house, techno, and all that other stuff i would say ableton is the way. i’ve been trying it out and i started to pulling my hair out after a couple of minutes, been looking for the perfect program and settled with FL9 for a while, moved to cubase which i find easier to use. but i find some of the plugins hard to understand. i mainly produce metal and techno into one bucket if you could say so. And by far i do find cubase worthy of such a task :stuck_out_tongue:

Neither, I think the best is either Cubuleton or Ablebase!
