Ableton Midi Map query

I have a beat repeat set up in ableton. I have mapped the on/off control of this device to a pad on my Novation launchpad. When I press the pad it switches the device on and when i press again it switches it off.

How can i get the device to switch on - hold the pad down and switch off when its released. Any ideas i’m certain it can be done.

I might be wrong here but i can only think if you use dummy clips for your beat repeat and set the launch mode of the clip to gate.

Worth a try

you can change it to “toggle” or something i think

ill check in a bit

having a go at it here but i cant get it

is it not handier just to press on and off rather than hold ?

Thanks for the help guys - yes i can hold it but thought it might be better if it stop once i took my finger off. Will have a play about and see if i can solve it.

if ye figure it out report back!!!

i wanna know

Strange thing is when i map the beat repeat device to the buttons on my M-audio oxygen it lets you press and hold the buton to switch the device on and releasing the button switches off the device. I have’nt changed anything it just seems to do it by default whereas the launchpad defaults to one press on and another press off. I wonder if it is something to do with the two pieces of kit sending slightly different midi messages?

why not map the on off to the knob you are using to change the time, that is how i’ve set it up
