Hello,
I was woundering what would be better to invest my money into, Cubase or Ableton Live 8 or both? Im not concerned about the money but more-so what works better. I am new to this so I’m not too familiar with either program. Ive been fooling around on Ableton but not Cubase.
Cheers

Depends what you like
Ableton has a supreme workflow compared to any other DAW. Really easy to navigate through everything. You can also DJ with it which makes it a great either way.
Cubase has tons of built in features that give it power. Most cubase users ive seen use 2 screens when producing(just something i wouldnt want to deal with, especially cost wise). Cubase itself is also pricey. Cubase has a nice workflow too.
Also Maschine is pretty great, not a complete DAW (really wish it could be it has supreme workflow for a groove/beat production studio and software which compliment it very well). I personally use Maschine for all my drum tracks, basslines, FX and percussion.
I would Suggest Ableton , for the new Producers. it is very Intuitive and have a great plug ins and effects. also most of the Videos in here are in Ableton.
i am sure it will help you out to learn faster how to use it .
Cubase in the other hand is more for a seasoned Producers, because it have great Routing presets for the Master , great Audio Editor ( if you like to see what you doing with the waveforms), Panning Laws for your master tracks. it also have a powerful MIDI features . ohh before i forget . it have nice features like auto detect Phase issues with your Audio Files ( Cubase 6) .
there is tons of stuff that cubase is good but it lacks of good Plug ins , and Synths. and the most important a good sampler.
go Live all the way!
ive used most DAWS logic , cubase, live and always come back to live.
tbh i find cubase an absolute pain to use but spose its up2 personell preference.

I have both and will say ableton is the simplest to use but you may want to get 3rd party plugins like reverb as I don’t think it’s that good. And the fact most of the tuts on here are in ableton makes it easy.
The easiest to use/workflow:
1.ableton life ( but only can use 4gb of ram max for now )
2.Presonus studio one 2 , fl studio
3.apple logic
Cubase it’s pretty complicated.
:hehe:
Daddy or Chips.
Deffinatley Daddy haha,
Thanks for the Info, Im going to get a grip with Ableton then look at Cubase in the future since I can always get that 30day free trial to mess around with things.
Had Protools for almost a year now and Im still having those “Wow I didn’t know about that one”
Cheers
