I’m running Ableton on XP 64bit with AMD Phenom(mt) II X4 965 and 12GB of RAM. I have problem with high CPU usage. I put some drums,one midi clip with bass line and one midi clip with lead and its already on 50% to even more Cpu usage.When i try to turn off/on multicore support nothing happen in amount of cpu usage.Also i have try to run with Asio drivers but it reduce my cpu usage for about 5%.

what plugin you using?



what soundcard have you got?



what are you buffer settings?

I use sylenth mostly, soundcard is realtek 7.1 ch hd audio.Input buffer size is 1264 samples(input latency 28.7ms) and output buffer size is 1520 samples(output latency 34.5ms)

Those real tek built in cards perorm very poorly at lower buffer sttings. You need it up around 4000 to get stability… You then get a lot of latency.



A decent Audio card from focsurite or M-audio etc. Will run at 256 with 11ms or less latency.
