Well, there is no way to do that unfortunately. Here is what you need to do. You work on a project, and when you are done wtih it, you can put it on an external hard drive. But you should NEVER mess with the project files.
The basic principal you have to remember, is that MIDI takes up far less space then audio does. But its a crapshoot. The more MIDI and synths you use, the more CPU you eat up. But the more audio you use (freezing, resampling, bouncing to audio, etc) the larger your project files become.
Basically, you will have to implement some kind of space saving techniques. Or get a bigger hard drive.
500 Mo / song !!!
You probably use a lot of samples in your songs… but 500 Mo is still very huge ! Do you trim them properly everytime you can ?
At the moment, i don’t use a lot of samples in my own songs… only for the beat because i bought a very good sample pack to create my rhythms and my ableton projects are always lower than 1 Mo…

Jon, I have been using more and more external synths. You know more about my setup then anyone. I really like the fact that I can bounce the audio down to a sample and move on with the project. I tend to do alot of freezing and flattening.
And the fact that the song was 70 or so channels of sound! :w00t:
lol forgot about you using external synths
its like 58 mg.***
its to big for myspace…
hahahah sorry about that again. yeah now not 500 mg lolll
its 68.7 yet its too big for myspace to upload it i was wondering if theres a way to bounce this song into a a smaller file??
Are you converting to mp3?
Bloody hell guys, i’ve no idea how you manage to get such large file sizes!!
