:smooooth:
I’m not after samples man I’m after the groove or shuffle settings :hehe:
Also I’m aware that you’ll never accurately mimic groove it as the 909 has it’s timing/lag issues that give it that feel…
But a touh of “random” could sort that out

808 & 909 grooves.
Problem being that its only @ one tempo - so its not for every eventuality, but at least you’ll get part of the feel & know yerself.
If you cant open it, let me know & I’ll do it, if its some Logic file - but it looks like a .mid

Nice, that worked for me. Imported the midi into Live, extracted the groove from each and then dragged them into the Ableton Library.
good work ICN!! and thanks for the instructions ANT!!
No probs - We all like happy endings…
As a matter of interest which one of the stock ableton ones match the closest or don’t they?!?
Dont tell him!

Not totally sure, but theres some factors you have to take into consideration with the whole groove thing.
X0X boxes have accent - so that emphasises stuff.
Also, theres velocity - Medium & Full - 64 & 97(?)
With accent is 110, or 120? Theres a larger increase anyway.
Its all 16ths too… so a 16th pattern & groove.
AND - Randomness… sh!t that happens inbetween. Not just with the timing, but also with the way the sounds hit - never really the same twice.
Check out D16 Drumazon for an slight idea of what I’m on about. The Claps sound wicked. That plug is alive.

Sh*t that’s given me something to chew on. But looks like it can’t honestly be done in the box. I’m gonna search for a vst :w00t:

I think the closest are the Swing 16 grooves. The Swing 16-35 at 100% is close I think. I have never used a real 909 though so I could be completely wrong.
How much would a hardware 909 or 808 set you back for?

Depends if it is signed or not

Probably a £1000 minimum but as much as I would like to have one I’m not paying the much and I’m feed up with 909 sounds tbh lol
I really love the 909 open HH. Pure classic sound…

Yeah minimum of £1000 Dave the Drummer had his 909 on ebay about a month or so ago for £1200.
Some of the sounds have aged well from the 909 and 808 others not so much…

Please forgive my ignorance - which parameter at 100%?
Wow - old thread resurrected. I don’t think any of these guys are active on here anymore.br

Anyway, I’m pretty sure he was referring to the Timing Parameter. Putting it at 100% means that the Groove will be applied 100% to the clip you’re applying it to. The other boxes, for example, Quantize, putting that at 100% means that Ableton will try to quantise the elements of the midi clip or sample 100% before it applies the Groove/Swing to it.
