I have it super embedded in my head to always avoid having two sounds in the same area of your spectrum, and EQ must be used to avoid clashes and etc.
But then i see videos like CM masterclass this month with the group cinematic. They made their song sound really full by throwing in lots of different ‘textures’ (some tonal some not) that played along with the chords. Like a choir Oooh loop, string sounds, noise with flangers, street noise.
So when it comes to a real world trance song can you layer a gazillion different textures and they wont clash as long as their volumes are kept real quiet? or their panned?
Also does something only “clash” when the fundamental Frequencies overlap? like the upper harmonics only get more rich and pleasing with the more harmonious layers
I feel like alot of trance songs have this full sound
I think a lot of it is also where in time the sounds are. Playing two sounds of the same frequency at the same time may not be as good as spacing them out.
