I’m thinking of sending a track out to a couple labels, and I noticed that a few of them suggest having metadata sorted (artist name, song name etc so it loads up organized when you put it into something like itunes) and I’m not exactly sure how to sort it out, whatever I end up doing it still shows up with nothing when I import it into itunes.
Anyone know how to do this? I’m working on a mac if that helps any.
Thanks
edit: And also, when sending tracks out do labels expect them mastered? I know most legitimate ones do mastering for you if they sign your song, but do they expect anything when looking at demos?
I’m pretty sure you can’t put in an id3 tag on wav’s as you would an mp3 (id3 is what i understand the artist, track, album info, etc. is called). The best way to do it I think would be to name the file as Beatport or Track it down do. So name the file “Artist_Name_-Track_Title-_Original_Mix.wav” and replace with the relevant artist name, track title, and Original Mix/Sander Van Doorn Remix or whatever.
Thanks for the reply. Hmm, yeah I’ve seen this done before but I can’t seem to get it to work. Either I’m doing it wrong or it only works with .mp3s and not .wavs, I’m not sure. I’ll keep trying a bit I guess.
Either way, any extra tips from anyone who’ve sent in some demos for format and such when submitting, or is it not such a huge deal? Sorry for being such a bother, just want to make sure to get it right
