I’d like to share with you my recent track, it’s called “Polly”. It is very much influenced and literally powered by the knowledge I got viewing Sonic Academy tutorials.br
br
At first I’d like to say big thanks to all Sonic Academy crew for sharing so much techniques, tips and tricks and creating such a very informative and pleasant to view tutorials and videos. Special thanks to Phil and Chris for Trance 2.0 and “How to make peak time trance” tutorials which I think I used most of all creating this track (and Trance 2.0’s introduction video is what really convinced me to finally subscribe, as I already posted somewhere :)).br
br
As for the track itself, the idea was to create very light, airy, loving, dreaming summer trance track mainly in major. I was pretty much inspired by Simon Patterson - Brush Strokes (Hazem Beltagui Melo Bootleg) which unfortunately wasn’t released yet and probably wouldn’t ever:br

br
Some parts may look too familiar and influenced, I was really impressed by it But I tried not just to copy something, but express my feeling of some little things in it I like most.br
br
Speaking of instruments, I used KICK for the main kick and NI Battery with sounds partially from its own library and Ultimate Drums for other drums. I also used A.N.A. quite intensively for basses, pads and leads, but unfortunately my CPUs aren’t always capable of playing all available patches, so I also used NI Massive for some sounds. For risers and effects I also used Ultimate FX.br
br
I should also mention that this version is mastered, but this is not my mastering, I ordered it on the external studio, so if you like it, it’s not me :)br
br
Although I happened to receive some positive feedback on this, I didn’t manage to sign the track anywhere. The track was finished in summer and now I have some ideas on how to improve it, I even started another version which I think I’ll also share under Creative Commons and post here in case someone is interested.br
br
Surely I would very appreciate any kind of comments and critics.br

Hi man, really loving this track, the production sounds faultless to me. The only thing that’s missing is an operatic vocal over the top of it to really bring the track alive! Have you considered looking at adding one to the track? It may be the thing it needs for people to take more notice…
Thank you very much for the feedback!br
br
Indeed, this was my very first time working with vocals, I grabbed the library of opera phrases for this, perhaps there’s really some missing things and overkill with it in some parts :)br
br
May I just ask: do you mean adding some higher, maybe, more whispering dry vocals or filling some gaps where there’s no vocals? I think I’ll definitely rearrange the vocal parts so will change it as well.
I meant more of a lead vocal rather than just a layer in the background, something that really takes the track up a notch and turns it from a really well produced track into something that people wanna listen to over and over again! Now unfortunately I’m not really sure where you’re gonna find that vocal though…
Yeah, I see. I quite agree with you that vocal tracks appear to attract more attention and in some terms are the next level, as Chris mentioned in recent interview with Sneijder, but yes, this track is still instrumental one, and you are right, I’m afraid, it’s beyond my skills to turn it to be vocal one at the moment :)br
br
Thank you so much again for the feedback and still I plan to make some ‘facelifted’ version of the track, that’s what I’m currently working on in my spare time.
