HOW MANY TIMES YOU SEND A RECORD LABEL A DEMO CAUSE YOU DON´T GOT THE MONEY OR CONNECTIONS TO CLEAR A SAMPLE FROM AN OLD MAJOR RECORD LABEL TO RELEASE IT BY YOURSELF AND GET THIS ANSWER: br
br
SORRY YOUR MUSIC IS NOT TIGHT…br
br
3-6 MONTH LATER YOUR HEAR A TRACK ON BEATPORT FROM THE SAME LABEL THAT STOLE YOUR IDEA…!br
br
HOW MANY LOCAL DJ´S YOU KNOWbr
GIVING HEAD TO CLUB MANAGERS THAT THEY CAN PLAY THE WARM UP???br
TELL US… HOW MANY REAL LOCAL DJ´Sbr
YOU KNOW SITTIN AT THE WEKKEND AT THE HOMEbr
AND DONT GET ANY GIG CAUSE THEY DON´T WANT PLAY MUSIC FOR FREE THAT THE CLUBOWNER GOT MORE MONEY TO PAY THE SO CALLED BIG DJ´S!!![/font]br
br
do you get bookings as a DJ or producer…???br
not all of them but the most…br
br
the whole top 100 is most of the time fake!br
one time we saw one week long tracks only from one label br
in the top ten!!!br
br
how many times you see on youtube bedroom dj´s that are better than any so called big boy dj´s?br
br
tell me how many people in the world knows this dj´s!br
br
br
br
br
br
I think the translation is fine.br
br
getting recognized as DJ/Producer is hard… its about building a fan base.br
br
Why would a club promoter put on a DJ that has no following that will help to sell tickets? They would obviously prefer to pay DJ who bring a crowd.br
br
Everyone has to start somewhere getting to play in front of a crowd is good experience. maybe it help to grow your following and you will build up how much you are worth (how much you get paid).br
br
Making money of selling records is also difficult only really top acts make anything. You make your money getting on compilations/radio play/ TV syncs etc.br
br
There are lots of talented people who probably deserve more attention but its the ones who take the business/promotion side just a seriously are the ones who will break through.br
br
hi phil, thank you for check the english text!br
br
i give you in some points right!br
br
dont you think that outside very very overated dj´s gettin paid for a gig 10000-20000 euro…! how many people from ibiza know guetta, armin van burren, tiesto etc…br
br
and tell me how many party people from ibiza know dj q-bert, mix master mike or even dj rafik from germany???br
br
today you gettin only good gigs if you are on beatport in the top ten… no matter if you a good dj or not! everybody lookin at beatport… i know some headz in my city that got more skillz that any of this so called big sync button dj´s… but they dont gettin big gigs, cause they dont produce music! br
br
slowly we hate the whole music industry… its only about connections… yo can make good music and put it on your facebook page or soundcloud… people will go on your side and after they see you got only 200-300 fanpage likes they automaticly think its not good music dont waste my time!br
br
i send only 4-5 demos in the last year to record labels… and one record label stole my idea… cause i cant protect my work, cause i sampled an loop from an old record and dont have the power to clear the sample as an unknown artist by an major label… so i send it to an label and they told me… its not our music style! 2-3 month later i hear from the same label 90% copy of my track in beatport in the top 10! is this ok??? i will never send a demo to an label once again! br
br
its not easy to build an fase base for me… im 35 years old now… i make an big break 5 years long cause i got problems with my health! i was a realy good hip hop dj 10 years long… now i starting to do electronic music cause hip hop is not more like it was and i like realy tech house! but i dont know nobody in the electronic music scene only one friend… and its realy hard for me to get an gig… 3 weeks ago a friend from me make an warm up in the club and i visit the party… and they told me come on man scratch a little bit on tech house! i started to scratch and the party crowd goin crazy cause they dont see it before… and the club owner told me… hey man you are crazy do you want a gig here next week in my club… i say ok how much you wanna pay for it… and he told me i cant give you more than free drinks and 50 euro cause you are unknown! is this ok??? i do an better show and stole the so called big boy dj that gettin paid 2 -3000 euro the show and the club owner want to pay me only 50 euro!!! br
br
and all clubowners they do partys in my city are assholes! for the most important thing the music they want save the money… a barkeeper earn more than dj´s!br
br
br
It sucks because business doesn’t follow moral code…Is it right that someone doing less work and is possible worse then you is making more money? No, but thats the way it is. br
br
You should stop viewing it as “this is not fair”,because most of life isn’t, and view any gig as an investment into your own career. br
br
Sure you’re only going to get paid 50 euros but who knows who could possibly be in that crowd watching that night+the valuable experience of actually getting to play a live show.br
br
Have some optimism man…People won’t care how old you are as long as the show you’re putting on is entertaining. But if you shoot yourself down before you ever start then you have no chance!br
br
PS. Your english isn’t bad
thank you man for the motivation :-)br
br
its realy hard in these days of time! br
br
in the nineties we must drive 50-100 kilometers in the week to the best record stores to get the best records (whitelabels etc…) people pay me 30 german bucks to get an mixtape cause they know that we must buy records over 200 german bucks every week and feelin like they have christmas when they hear it and today you can upload a mix on youtube and people are pissed of (where ist the ****in tracklist???) br
br
peacebr
br
Unfortunately in this day and age its all about social media, how many “friends” you have on facebook that you’ll probably never talk to. How many “followers” on Soundcloud that have probably never heard any of your tracks. It’s pretty sad really as like James said its the people that probably dont work as hard as others that seem to be getting the recognition, but dont let that dishearten you. br
br
If it’s popularity you want then go and spam as many people as you can and you’ll be able to build up that fan base quicker than you can say “celebrity”. However if its making music that you love and have great passion in making then stick to the long road, sure it might take longer to get there, but you’ll have gathered more experience along the way and it’ll taste a whole lot sweeter when you do!
