When I saw the topic headline I had a sudden urge to shout
“F@CK YEAH!”
I don’t know why.
When I went to the states the first thing I did was eat a Twinkie and also a Babe Ruth. The Twinkie was a ****e medley of cheap sponge and even cheaper ‘creme’.
Cant remember the babe ruth, think it was ok. Hershey’s chocolate I wasn’t impressed with, in fact just most sweet stuff was just that… too sweet. Even the bread and ham (dont start me on the cheese) was sweet, so I learned to ask for ‘sourdough’ - yes they call it sour, cos it’s not sweet!
But other than everything being sweet - even the sandwiches (oh forgot about the maple syrup on eggs and bacon thing!!) I loved it, walking into ‘drug’ stores and being asked for ID in clubs (in my mid twenties) and choosing from like a million varieties of Pepsi you just don’t get here.

And unlimited refills on drinks too.
What’s with people always drinking out of red plastic cups at parties though, seems such a big thing there, they are always doing it when I, I mean my girlfriend, is watching ‘Real Housewives of the OC’

Think of it this way… bet there aren’t many places that do refills on beer.
Then you’ll grasp the UK perspective 
Some places kinda do now, but they are like Nandos or Subway etc or maybe the odd Family Pub, but again it’s usually only the over-priced soft drinks/soda.
Howie you get free refills at the pizza huts in europe lol. The food in the US was a big shock to me and I emphasize the word big because the portions you get are insane everything is huge. Check out reeses pieces, chocolate with peanut butter its amazing. Just make sure Roben you come back on a plane and dont come ‘rollin’ back lol…

I heard about the syrup on bacon thing at the Camp Leaders prep day today! My first reaction to hearing about that was:
But apparently it’s quite nice. But i’m the kinda guy who’s happy with a bowl of Alpen in the morning and I don’t ever drink fizzy drinks (unless it has alcohol mixed in haha) as i find them too sugary / sweet.
Am i going to find it really difficult to find anything to eat that’s not going to make me gag due to it being too sweet then? :laugh:
I also heard that the burgers are pretty much the size of plates, as are the steaks?!. Good god, i’m going to come back twice my weight! hahaha 
I must admit i’m quite excited though, just to experience the culture mostly, although their over use of the word ‘like’ and some of the accents i know will irritate me. :laugh: … hopefully though the experience will get me used to it.

in some places its illegal to walk around with a beer bottle or beer can in public. so a lot of people put their drinks in red cups.
a lot of underage drinkers use red cups… or anything else they can get their hands on to hide their alcohol
