An impress your friends mentality

I read an article in a dutch magazine and thought it was interesting and i think everybody is guilty of this in some way. So ill try to roughly translate. ‘There isnt enough practical expierence in the world of audio. Anyone can read a book on EQ and impress their friends by explaining to them why the sound from their system is ****. But put those same people next to someone who hasnt read any eq books but has been working with eqs day in day out for the last 40 years who is more likely to be able to make your friends ****ty sound system sound good? Its time for audio engineers all around the world to dump this impress your friends mentality and get more hands on! You dont need to know everything about everything all you need to know is how to get a good sound using your experience.’. Interesting article right?

Definitely, too many people regurgitate stuff that they ahve read without actually knowing if its really true or not, or have opinions formed based on what they have heard rather than what they have done.

Yeah i mean this article is pretty deep it covers alot of things and touches many aspects of our audio world.

Haha, this seems very true. I am entering the world of audio engineering in just over a month.

Right now I have been doing a lot of reading, with not much practical experience. While this is all good, practical experience is a lot more worthwhile than being able to talk out of your ***, because then you can actually show them your skills!

What magazine was it? Although I cannot speak any language other than english lol!

Just an article from a dutch music shops magazine
