hey andy ,
i like the song , i left you some comments on sc
Hi Andy, I’ve listened to the track bout 3 or 4 times now and I think you got almost everything sounding great. The only thing that seems wrong to me is a lack of bass. Theres no punch at all in the low end. This makes the drops seem weak.
I recorded a lil bit of your track and put it into logic to show u what i mean. I’ve just put a blank EQ on the track an switched the analyser on to high setting.
As you can see, it seems like all the frequencies around 100hz have been reduced. This means that your bass an kick are gonna sound weak and not have the punch that trance tracks need. It should be an easy fix to lower all your other levels till the kick an bass come to life
I hope this doesn’t come across as me ripping into your track, i’m just trying to help

No no, of course it doesn’t sound like that! I mix down in a pair of Allen & Heath XONE series XD-53s… I should have noticed. Incidently, this is what it looks like to me:

My mastering chain; ripped entirely off the videos on this site lol!
Looking at that it might be an idea to have a look at the EQ setting. Seem to be cutting some low frequencies and boosting mid so maybe thats whats causing the bass to be lost.
Personally tho I would take the EQ off an have a lil re mix. Try lowering the volume of all the tracks except the kick an bass. The volume u loose here can be gained with a bit of compression so don’t worry to much bout that.
Hope I’ve helped here, and i’d be more then happy to have another listen
Sound much better
The drops now have the punch that was missing before!
Just out of interest what did you change??
I adjusted the levels of the tracks first, then reset and redone the compression on almost everything. Post production i adjusted the EQ and completely changed the multiband settings. in addition to that kinda technical stuff i also rewrote some parts and adjusted filter/volume automations where i felt it was a bonus to do so… Compare the ends of the two breakdowns for example. lots of little bits and pieces really.
