Any advice or tips for remixing?

Hi guys, I have a few tracks under my belt now. I have been producing a year now and decided to do a remix competition.

Have you any advice or tips for remixing?

Thanks for any help

not really dude.  make what you love to make.  dont try to completely conform to the song.  Lastly, do your best.  I have confidence that you can do well.  Just make sure you give yourself all the time in the world to complete it.

Cool  Ya I have got until the 8th of March to complete it, so I will use all that time to do it properly.

The track I have to remix is Remote Kiss “Robert Babicz”, its a really percussive track and a simple melody.

I think my biggest stubbling block is music theroy all the time, I need to master that. So thankfully this track is more about the groove than complicated chords etc.

  • Make the track your own
  • You don’t have to use all parts
  • Have a game plan (an idea what you’re setting out to do in the remix)
  • Have an idea who your target audience is
  • Try not to create the exact same style as the original, try to make it something completely different.
  • Good luck

One chord is fine. Two chords is pushing it. Three chords and you’re into jazz.

hehe

especially when you add that 7th. love those jazzy chords

If it was me doing the remix I would want to hear the track, only so I could make something different from that.
