Hey guys
I have noticed there have been a fair few beatport competitions recently (I think there are currently 3 open for voting) have any of you entered? If so, I think it would be a cool idea to post your remix links here, and for all of us to show eachother some “sonic community” support! 
I think it’s a little bit of a shame that the contests seem to rely so heavily on votes, I think it tends to end up more of a popularity contest, rather than quality remixes. Anyway post your remixes here, if I like them I will certainly vote for them, and I’m sure others on the forum will too!
I think this is a much better way to try and get some votes to get your remix heard rather than just pointlessly spamming people, at least this way you may get some constructive feedback?
Anyway I thought I could start it off, as I entered the Calvin Harris feat Ne-Yo contest last night. If you genuinely like it then please vote! And guys get posting yours too! Would love to hear other remixes from the sonic community!

Didn’t know they were doing a remix comp, that’s interesting as it’s a killer track for a commercial tune!
Nice idea with the remix, I think you’ve done a pretty good job. The only thing i’ll say is it does sound a bit over compressed in the main sections. Also there was something in the lower end niggling me, just need to get an EQ over there and notch something out, perhaps around the 200-250hz perhaps?

Thanks for the feedback too, I do need to work on my compression a bit, its certainly something I’ll look out for next time.
As for the remix comps, they seem to be coming in waves of about 3 or 4 at a time recently. I just keep checking the “play” section on beatport every now and again.

I tried finding yours after you post the comment, but you hadnt left a link. I’ve given you a vote now anyway :)! Its very good, not the kind of style I’d normally listen to, would have been nice to hear a few more builds etc in there, it seems a bit linear on the whole. But well produced!

Heres my mix! I’ve only been producing for 5 months so I’ve still got lots to learn. I was gonna be happy with ONE vote lol without spamming this track anywhere. To my pleasant surprise I have 5 votes! I’m happy at least one person out there likes it

Ben Lloyd I’ve listened to your track but the huge amount of compression stopped me from listening to the whole song on my headphones.
Roben you’ve made a very professional remix but I felt the need for more variation. A lot more variation , maybe some more sound effects for a more interesting listen?

I only bother entering contests where the judges will definitely listen to my entry rather than the most popular or commercial one winning out. I tried one of those voting contests before and it’s just a farce.
You’re track won’t get listened to no matter how good it is if you don’t have tons of mates who will vote for it or a big publicity campaign or many existing fans / followers.
Do all beatport comps have this voting aspect where the judges only listen to the top few voted tracks?
