Anyone go to producer sessions?

I was just wondering how it was? Did anyone catch Nicky Romero? I really wanted to see that, i wish they would give people in different countries the ability to watch it. I dont mean paying for it but they really need to start streaming this **** out. I feel im gonna have to write an angry email to music radar.

I didn’t go but they might feature it on the Future Music DVD one month…

hi jj

i went but romero didnt. he must of cancelled. it was a great event! anyone in the UK shoulda tried to get there.

I didn’t as I was going to Ibiza the weekend after, needed to save me pennies! Shame really, but i do find that these things go over the same old ground anyways.

Isn’t this the problem… that it’s all the same… surely all ‘educational’ places suffer this. It’s gonna be the same with this place… there’s only so much you can demonstrate really. Once you’ve learnt compression, eq, sidechaining, synthesis and the difference between insert/send fx etc all you can learn is the same thing but from different people (choice of 2 here) and angles. Really, sites like this and those shows are for the next wave of newbies coming through… surely this site, exhibitions like producer sessions and others like it rely on the newcomers to exist?

Is that not what any education establishment is about - train and move on

At least this place has a decent community

Community? there’s about 10 regularly active people (who are good company btw) I’ve seen on here. The rest are newbie questions and often then regulars (who love to have a bit of banter) then go so off topic that the newbies give up and just lurk again until the next time something good comes up or a video has the wrong title/won’t play/assets are missing

There ARE some real contributors here but they are in the minority. I’ve noticed ICN and Jamie going out of their way to help others. The rest of the time people just seem to come on here to hang out… because they’ve made friends and it’s a good laugh. Especially to take the pi** out of certain individuals. I’ve joined in of course. You’ve noticed I hardly bother here any more… the initial burst of enthusiasm from me is now dwindling. I’ve joined in, watched the posts for things I could get invovled with (as in the lil louis example where I actually created a live set for the person) and helped with sensible stuff where I could but it’s not really stimulating me anymore, the banter is the only reason why I still linger.

But is that not what a community is about? People chip in with help or banter - and lets be honest a lot of the questions or help asked for has been asked a 100’s of times before and can quite easily be found by using the search function

As for the tutorial request thread - I think its just becoming a joke - 100’s of requests for the same thing and the majority totally ignored (no I am not just talking about the techno requests)

On a personal level - SA did teach me some basics which I am grateful but it was only through my own experimentation and work did I finally find my own sound (like it or not) and I can not see myself subscribing any more - I just wish there was a donate button as I would be willing to help keep the forum running - plus I have made a few real friends here which is always a bonus

Am i part of the real friends club slender? :stuck_out_tongue:
