Hey all. I was wondering if anyone here knows about the akai controller. I want to know if I remap it for DJing does that change the mapping for all my live sets or just the project I’m in? IE: will I need to re-remap it when I want go back into “producer mode” or do the mappings on it stay with the live set? Any help would very appreciated. Cheers
It just re-maps the project you are using it doesnt re-map the controller, I use a acp20 and it is piss easy to set up and do!
Hi, only for the setup your using, so you can make several maps without worrying, great piece of kit.
The only problem with the APC for DJing is you can only modulate one channel EQ at a time, which is an issue when you need to take away the bass from one track and bring in the bass from another track at the same time. This is the only thing that lets down the controller for me.
Yea i know what you mean, though u could have bass knobs setup on the send channels so you could filter 1 in & 1 out, i guess it depends on what controls you use most…
Althought on another note, most ppl will be using it through some sort of mixer if djing live with it, if you have a soundcard with enough outs you can set it up for using two channels on the mixer, so 1st you dont waste controls settiup up eqs etc… & 2nd you can then uset the eq, volume controls on the mixer
a dj mixer is made for being pumped through, you would have better results with it
whatever you do, do not touch the clip launch buttons. You can remap everything else.

i was actually hoping to get around that by remapping the pan, send a, send b, etc nobs with my effects. could i do like an EQ Three on each channel and map the gain nobs to those banks of pans and sends? if not i guess i’ll be investing in a mixer. I’ve 4 ins and 10 outs so I’ve got more than enough I/O for the mixer right?

I think the best way is clearly to route it through a mixer OR use a seperate controller.
