Sorry to not post some beef about the latest tutorial or Deadmau5 or whatnot.
I created a dual Arpeggiator instrument in Ableton and thought I would share.
What it does:
Runs two Arpeggios simultaneously on the same instrument, which itself isn’t that interesting, but I’ve set it up so one decays out, the other in. Also one is set to chords mode giving a solid lower foundation, the other more ‘tinkly’.
Anyways, drop it before your synth, and plonk in some chords (I demo’d with Cminor C,Eflat, G and went from there) and got some interesting results.
The joy is that you can play about with the rate settings of each arpeggio for some really interesting and melodic sounding results.
In fact you can play about with most of the settings obviously and really get something musical sounding out of it.
You’ll see I put a velocity cap in the chain on the second Arp too, that was just to force it to come in low and then I ramp it up in the velocity section (set high target and longish decay time).
Just download the file, change .doc to .adg (wouldn’t let me upload otherwise) drop the File into your /MIDI Effect/MIDI Effect Rack folder and there you go.
Double Arpeggio Instrument by Bang the DJ
Mate this is really cool!
edit
Just trying it out, i’ve changed the name of the file as suggested, dropped it into the MIDI Effects / MIDI Effect Rack folder and it’s appeared within, however when i then try to drag it into the plug in area i just get a black circle with the line through, where as other plugs will drag and drop fine.
Tried double clicking too, still nothing?
Hope you dont mind Bang if I put this in the Tech Thread, just so it doesnt get lost on the site?
Looks deadly

Hmm, silly question I know, but you tried it on a MIDI channel, not audio? I only say that cos I noticed the black circle when doing that. I’m sure you tried it right, as double clicking it should open a new midi channel anyway.
I did it all from scratch again and worked for me so not sure what it could be.
I’m on version 8.2.1, but don’t think that should matter. Be interesting to see if anyone else can get it to work.
I’ll take a look at that thanks.
I’m a bit confused about arpeggiators so have up to now avoided them. Struggling to see how they fit in with everything else/. But that’s just me being stupid I’m sure.
Yep yep defo midi channel, got my Sylenth loaded up in there along with a chord and scale.
Perhaps it’s just my computer being a gay, lol

Maybe you don’t have enough send channels set up
haha, just loaded it up into something i was already working on
Perhaps i do get a bit ‘send’ happy haha.
Did anyone get anywhere with this out if interest?
I have just downloaded and it works great! It creates some interesting patterns.
Thanks for sharing.
How did you get it to work?
- I copied the file to my documents\ableton\library\presets\midi effects\midi effects rack
2. Then to be able to change the extention to .adg I in the folder menu (in vista or W7 it is in Organize, in XP it is in File) I went to folder options - view and unselected hide extentions for known file types. Clicked OK
3. Then I deleted the .doc and typed .adg
4. Then I repeated step 2 but re-checked the box
5. Then I opened Ableton and draggen in the instrument in and it worked.
Hmmm, that’s exactly what I did and it didn’t work. Will have to try again.
Cheers
