I’m producing on my laptop and my biggest fear is having it crash.
I back up my work on my external hard drive about 10 times an hour. I was wondering if anyone knew, if your project, along with the samples you’re using are saved on your external in addition to the computers hard drive (even if you’re working off the file on your laptop’s hard drive and just backing it up to the external), if god forbid the computer crashed, would you be able to open up the file from the external on a new laptop and everything would be ok…(ie. All sounds would be the same, automation, etc, because the project and samples are saved onto the external, even though you worked off the laptops hard drive?)
I’m sorry if you don’t understand what I am trying to explain haha. Just want to put my nerves to rest…
Please forgive me for skipping your question, but the answer to your problem is Dropbox.
Save your files there, have it sync automatically. If you ever lose said laptop and its hard drives, simply sync dropbox to your new computer.
I actually have my whole install in my dropbox folder, including all VSTs and it’s where I save my samples.
Really, look into it
