is there a tut. on how to make a huge bass drop? any recommendations? i have the build and i want the next measure to start with a HUGE bass. And Ideas?
yup
portamento
take the first note, put it in legato mode, place another note 1/32nd note or 1/16th note after the next but ending at the same time. Make sure the second note is where you want the note to end up. play with the glide amount.
From there, I like to sample the note in. But thats just me.
if you mean the sort of drop were the crowd grit their teeth and punch the air then you’ll probably want to filter out all the bottom end of the mix for the last bar or two of the build maybe leave One or two beats of silence (just reverb tails left on) before dropping in the huge bass riff.
Or the other type of drop do what howard said ^^^^
I would have suggested the same as what Jon suggested but he beat me too it lol. It’s used a lot in most productions and to good reason, it’s a great effect. Howies suggestion is a pretty cool trick actually, perhaps even think about a mixture of the two.
It’s really down a lot to how you build up towards your drop. Even just the kick coming back in can be that ‘release’ and enough to please the listener, so if you’re not finding your drop to be ‘epic’ enough, think about your build up towards it. Remember the point of it is tension building and teasing. The bass drop is your release, it’s giving the listener what they’re waiting for and being teased towards. It’s that bit of the track that gets everyone dancing like a mofo again. Tease tease tease.
Oh word !!!
Thanks guys !
