Bass Processor

I just watched the tutorial on bass processing and having downloaded the resource file I was trying to use a T-Racks EQ in place of the Fabfilter which I dont have. However even in linear phase mode I’m having problems with it. As a workaround is it not possible to just duplicate the bass channel 3 times and then using auto filter / EQ eight mix in the desired levels of bass, mid and high? I realise this would obviously use more CPU but is there any technical reason why the result wouldn’t effectively be the same? Thanks.

Your work around should work the same as it’s technically doing the same thing. Another way to do this is with the multiband dynamics plugin. Slap one on your bass channel then group it. Then you can copy the chain three times, one for low, one for mid and one for high. Make sure you solo the low, mid or high frequency on the corresponding dynamics plugin.

You then have your bass split into three frequencies for processing separately.

Thanks mate - I got a bit further with the T-Racks plugin. I originally thought I was having phase problems as the 3 chains on the bass meant the kick drum seemed to be dropping out a little / lowering in volume but I think it was more to do with levels than anything else. I’ll try your suggestion also to see how it sounds, much appreciated.
