Beat Repeat in Ableton

Hi all,

i’m looking at creating a stuttering effect in ableton using a beat repeat.

I want to be able to put this on a drum group and stutter the drums but i’m unsure of the best settings.

Once this is switched on i would like some comtrol over how much is let through.

Basically a similar effect to if you play a drum loop and then move in the loops brace to cut the sample down and stutter it but using beat repeat.

there is a beatrepeat fxrack preset for doing what your asking.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the link i have downloaded it althought its not exactly what i’m after it goes some way towards it.

Let me explain:-

If i pass a vocal through it ie someone singing the word ‘DANCE’ i want to make it so that i get the first letter ie ‘DDDDDDDDD’ i then want to be able to open it out more ie ‘DANDANDAN’  ‘DANCDANC’ Etc.

I pressume it just some different settings - hope you can advise further keep up the good work:-)

What you are trying to achive is more of a gating effect.



2 possabilites for this and they are both free



Dblue Glitch or Livecut.



Next option is from Sonalksis, they have a gate, which you could use and use side chaining, maybe side chain a silent High Hat to get you desired effect.
